Welcome to the Blackhawks Teuvo. Looks like a steal.

- al_blog

How ironic it would be, in just about 3 seasons ... that if this kid panned out and was on the roster, the 'Hawks would trade Kaner because they got Teuvo...

Vasilevski is also 2 to 3 years away. As are 98% of the players selected in the draft.
- Blackwater13

Vasilevski is (a) closer to NHL ready, and (b) fills an organizational need - in a system that has very few - if any - NHL goalie prospects - INCLUDING at the parent team.

JJ- Do you see the Hawks being active tomorrow with trades or do you think they'll wait for free agency (OR not at all... grr...)?
- al_blog

Hjalmarsson's going somewhere. Almost a certainty.

Really don't know much about him. Was happy for a second when I saw we got a guy who slid from the top 10 until he got up and started hugging people and he was half a foot shorter than everyone including the women.

Guys hes 5'11" Hes skinny not short.

Geeting Bobby Ryan off the table would likely open up more trade opportunities...

Doesn't seem like Nash will happen until then...

- Al

Ryan? And not Nash ?? Has that thought process changed (OTT/CHI, Hammer/Nash etc) the last couple hours?

I liked Vasilevski a lot. But they took the best available player. Can't argue with it. Bet they grab a goalie in round 2.

Ruutu was puffed up big time back then by Tallon....I don't think he was the best player outside of North America like he was promoted...

But and it is a big but...If Ruutu would not have suffered so many bad injuries he would have been at least a top 2nd line player for sure.

What other smurfs has he drafted. Krueger was a fifth rounder but hes drafted a lot of size and grit the last couple years.

Just saying.

Teravainen plays for the same team in Finland too
- John Jaeckel

Ruutu got the Hawks Ladd. May have been a bad Hawks player, but did get the Hawks a real good player that was a big part of the cup team.

jj is there another team you can start blogging for i cant bear to watch this train wreck any more

pittsburgh has to trade stahl and he will only go to one team thereby handcuffing them with potential trade partners but pittsburgh is able to trade him to the team stahl wants to go to and pittsburgh gets equal value back in return

hawks scenario last year is stan wants to trade campbell with less restriction on team preferences and stan not only does not get equal value back in return but takes damaged goods that costs the hawks 3 million a year
this team is going nowhere with stan as the gm and to add insult to injury he continues picking smurfs when the trend is clearly going big

new hawks slogan wait till next year 2014

Kruger was a 5th rounder....but yeah, Bowman has added size...Hayes bros.McNeil Saad all over 6 feet and 200lbs...but I still would have taken a goalie....now let's see what Bowman is going to do with trades and free agency...hopefully he makes a few moves...a friend of mine is big on the SEL and SML, I'm gonna text him tomorrow to see what he thinks of the Hawks pick

I don't understand how it effects a Hammer deal but could...

The point being many teams would rather have Ryan than Nash....Younger and cheaper.

I think from the sounds of it, Howson hasn't got an acceptable offer....Said it is unlikely Nash to be dealt tonight.

He's a wing, saw him listed as a C, RW.

I like the pick, kid has elite talent. They can draft all kinds of bruisers later.
