I will give you the trade front as i didn't not make my point correctly but 1) my point was you will not see a ton of deals tonight at draft or tomorrow involving big time names as has been speculated.
They can like Nash all they want but Kane's contract is much more friendlier than Nash's and 2) Kane on open market will get a much better return than NASH and one of the NHL's worst contracts. 3) if trading Kane is what the Hawks have finally come too which I don't believe is the case at all, would rather take 2-3 players in a deal one involving a young goalie and a center over NASH - DeepThreat
1) you're probably right, the action never matches the hype. Although I think there are more quality players on the market than some believe.
2) Wrong. Nash is a captain and a better player than most realize because he';s played on lousy teams. Kane, on the other hand, has driven his trade value down because is off-ice stuff has scared a lot of teams.
3) I know, because Bob McKenzie, who said Cam Barker was a top 4 guy in Chicago in 2010, says it it isn't happening, it isn't happening. They would like to move him for the right return.

Coyotes are not an option, at all.
He has ZERO fit with that system. Tippet wouldnt put up with him - FourFeathers773
Don't think for a minute they would not try to bring in some X factor.
Kaner may have a different respect for Doan than Toews...no offense to Toews of course. |

The trade market goes to sh-- after 7/1 because of the glut of free agents. Trades will get done more so before 7/1.
Also, how do you know, aside from any desire the Hawks might have to remove the Kane distraction, that they don't just really like Nash as a player? (they do) - John Jaeckel

IMHO
Nash for Kane straight up I wouldn't do it. The difference in age is the biggest issue I see. Nash is almost 5 years older.
In an expanded deal getting a young Brassard also, then I would do it!
Kane + Hjalmarsson for Brassard and Nash
I would still prefer trading Kane for younger on the cusp very good players between 20-25 years old.
Thanks |

Would love to see Nash wear an Indian Head too bad his salary is very high. Would prefer to see Kane traded for someone like Getzlaf as a one for one deal regarding salary. After that we could go and get extra grit like a Steve Ott or Parise. All in all I think getting rid of Kane is not a bad thing. Lets see if Stan has the balls to do what it takes to make this team into a contender again.....can't wait to see what will happen. By the way JJ great job as always.....keep up the good work. |

On top of it, Kane has underperformed to his ability level the past 2 years while being surrounded by top talent (Toews, Hossa, Sharp). Nash will certainly be better if you put him next to those guys.
However, for Kane, there isnt too many other line combinations across the NHL on other teams that will make Kanes production explode, nash is the exact opposite, almost any other team in the NHL will make his stats pop

Hey JJ!! Any news on Montador? What are the Hawks plans for him? If they get rid of him and Hammer, they have no bottom pairing, does that mean they would go after a 5-6 d man in free agency? If so,who do you think is on the list? |

I am with you JJ the only down side with NASH is his contract and the number of years and Hawks have a ton of money tied up in their core already and Nash becomes the highest Hawk. |

That's not a bad deal...
Or what about Kane & Hjalmarsson for Moore & Nash...
Nash would be phenomenal playing on Toews wing... |

I dont know all the issues inside the clubhouse with Kane, and a guy like Nash would help out a lot, but at the end of the day, I see Kane in a Blackhawks jersey next year (at least until the deadline). Maybe the Blackhawks PR machine worked a bit too well... This is where Bowman makes his name. One way, or the other...
This is the most exciting non-playing two weeks in sports. Thanks for reporting it just how you hear it. |

Yeah lets trade two more players from our cup team away for the players Bowman brings in, because that's worked out great so far |

I've heard nothing specific on Montador other than they'd like to get rid of him, what Jesse had yesterday comes as no surprise however |

The Cup team is dead. If trading Kane and #4 nets you Nash you do it. Nash is a bad ass power forward and a beast from the circles down, a true finisher. |

I think it's safe to say the Hawks are not the only team Howson is talking to, so a call to Stan from him is really neither earth shattering news, nor much of an indicator as to any move involving Nash, let alone Kane.
The interested teams are better off playing chicken with Howson and waiting him out to get more reasonable about what it would require another team to take on that albatross of a contract. Otherwise you overpay.
Seems a better strategy to overpay for the RIGHT role players to round out the holes in the roster (hello Dallas: Steve Ott?)
The solutions to the Hawks woes are not only resolvable by signing marquis players. The mad rush to pursue that strategy reeks of McD wanting a press conference buzz rather than what these decisions should be - what is best for the team. |

Gotcha! Any rumblings on who the Hawks pick tonight? I know you said yesterday you had a hunch it would be Vasilevski(Would love for them to draft him) was that just a gut feeling,or some rumblings from your sources? |

The one guy who every shift gave Suter and Weber problems. Give him a center with good eyes and hands and he's north of 60 every year. |

60 goals? Donno about that... I think if he played on the same line as Toews he would be a 40 goal scorer, possibly 50 if they could get their act together on the PP..and an 80-90 point player |
