I have been writing for weeks...
And just tweeted...
The trade chips off the roster are Hammer, Stalberg and Bickell...
From Rockford; Pirri, Lalonde lead the list. - Al
Even though I've heard nothing - I really hope the flyers are in play for Stalberg. Give Stan some picks, he likes those. Stalberg makes it easier for the flyers to then deal JVR. He'd pair well on the 3rd line..... Stalberg - Couturier - Simmonds. |

I should have been clearer with what I was asking in respect to Stallberg. I wasn't taking away from the fact that I know Al and JJ broke the news first, (which- as with all reported here- I am grateful for!!!) I was only asking if there was an update since it's gaining traction. - al_blog
No hard feelings here...Anyone can post anything at anytime.
When I am asked about something I have mentioned awhile ago...Well...
It is what it is...If Bobby Ryan gets traded not many will remember I had him on the block a week ago.
People remember what they want...And most of the time the stuff that doesn't happen is what people will remember.

Hammer may get you something of need but for the most part none of those other players bring you back much at all. - RickJ
Depends. A young 20 goal scorer making less then $1MM could be very attractive to a lot of teams. Similarly, Bickell has value because he's making the minimum and has the tools (lacking the brains) to be a good NHL forward.
Frolik and Montador have no value IMO. |

Going to have to take a bad contract with Stalberg...Like a Frolik. |

Capt..
To be clear I have been on the same train for awhile...Hammer, Suter...Stalberg etc...
I heard Bolland was on the block but that was before Q. and the Habs job etc....
The Hawks will try to make a splash and I still think there is better than a 50% chance something significant will come down.
That doesn't necessarily mean Suter or Parise but something most would be happy with..
And it doesn't necessarily have to happen this weekend...
I heard about the same time Suter was in the mix...Doesn't mean he will sign here but the Hawks will take a big swing. - Al
Heard you loud and clear Al...appreciate the reply...new article tomorrow possibly? or will you be waiting for the entire draft to be over with?

I am in the camp that you have to get lucky...
If it was my guess I would take Subban over the Russian.
Since the Mike Smith era the Hawks have avoided taking Russians in the draft or otherwise...And that might not change. - Al
If this is or were true, that would be so incredibly stupid on their part. You should never turn away talent because of some prejudice. Mike Smith was an idiot true but the team did worse by not developing our Russian picks. Vorobiev was playing well, not great, but 21 pts in 39 games isn't too shabby for a rookie. He also accused the organization, of that time, of poor treatment toward its Russian players.
While I believe that to be a bit exaggerated, I do believe the CBH have had issues developing players like Vorobiev. I still think they have issues, mainly the coaching staff, has not done enough to get players like Kane, Hammer, and even Crawford playing like the can. |

Well before we go in the wrong direction...
There are reasons to avoid Russain players and many franchises do...Unless the right connections are in place, especially now, they stay in Russia.
So more is involved and there is more uncertainty, in an already uncertain game.
It's not by chance you haven't seen many Russians here since then. |

When will this die!?:
From Eklund:
On Luongo...
A player I really thought would be going later...may actually be the closest to making a deal...Toronto of course, but I keep hearing Chicago... |

Not going to give away a player with a modest contract who has improved every season here and the GM thinks could be a top six forward.

But how much value would he really have? The hawks really need 2 to 3 younger forwards with some grit and skill. It would be nice if hammer nets us a Foligno. Smith is good, too, but more upside with Foligno. Only the top 4 have enough value to bring back a couple young gritty forwards. Toews isn't going anywhere and either is Hossa. It should be Kane |

He's given away everyone else Ladd, Buff, Campbell,Versteeg. Lol. One can dream right?

Al hope they move all three...hopefully someone will want Stalberg and take Frolik w/ him...I think Stalberg is a trap right now...sure he scored last season (against the Jackets) but he doesn't play the body and how about his playoff numbers the last two seasons.

I won't begin to defend Bowman for his tenure as GM, but it is hard to hold the Ladd, Buff, or Versteeg trades against him when he was completely hamstrung by how much salary he could take back. Campbell was also a salary dump, pure and simple. |

Maybe someone's just feeding that to Eklund so he'll look silly. It's just plain dumb. Stan has to know that if he trades for Lu he'll be run out of town. I don't think even he is that stupid.
(Please, Stan, don't pove me wrong on this one . . . ) |
