Ribeiro is the soft player you argue we're full of....so why would we want him?
And Staal wanted to play with his brother in Carolina. There's no point in giving up what Carolina gave up for him, when it was very likely he would've signed with them next year anyway.
Here's an idea....draft at #5, continue to develop your prospects, and let the kids play? What I've wanted Burke to do for the past few months, and am happy as hell he's doing that...(for now) - Pen15
I agree with you on both.. although I think Staal would've been worth it if you could've convinced him to come to Toronto... and signed him long-term.. the fact is in Toronto he would be the number 1 center in Carolina I believe he will be number two... not saying it would've been easy..
nor that Ribeiro would've been a good fit.. bust sometimes you have to show the motions for the rest of the team to believe.. Ribeiro would've added to our depth at worst.
Besides the last few draft I don't think it is so much the selection but the inability to develop players..

Words of a used to be wise man.. action-reaction... the world is based on push-pull and results. You will remember.. lol - DoctorNHL
Hey, Wedgie, do you remember when that ex-con loser went on about Burke needing to be fired?
No.
Really? He was pretty adamant.
Did he have a good argument?
No, not at all. Everyone thought he was a real d-bag. Nobody liked him.
Still don't remember him. Why do you ask?
He's gone back to prison.
Yeah, don't remember, don't care. |

Looks like the Leafs will get a decent player at 35 too. I'd LOVE it to be Tanner Pearson! |

I do not wish to make this personal. I'm not sure why you are. Many people on here have lost people close to them. I was merely stating that although people write about Brian Burke and his personal issues, which allow us, (the fans) the knowledge to speak about it in blogs, when that was for years off limits.
I was not arguing with you nor personally attacking you. I was saying that it is classless to bring peoples families into things. Kids and wives are usually off limits even to criminals, I wish reporters and bloggers would adhere to that. - stevecarpetman
I understand your intention and was not making it personal with you I was referring to others.. also my suggestion is that it could be an affect.. I also understand why my statement was misunderstood.. I apologize to you if my comments were taken wrong.. and appreciate your opinion. Like yourself I think public figures should be protected privately also.

Don't necessarily mind the pick, it gives us a future, and honestly D first is a great way to build... it worked for the Sens
Also opens up a huge trading opportunity for us, when the right deal comes along for a centre, we can take it |

Yeah, I still don't think Staal could've been convinced to sign elsewhere instead of play on the same line with his brother.
Riberio is the Ronaldo primadonna of hockey....he's a selfish player and apparently a cancer in the locker room. I wouldn't want him anywhere near our young guys...
And I think our development has been going smoothly. If Burke can somehow unload Armstrong, Lombardi, and Connelley....then guys like Frattin, Kadri, and Colborne can play up next year. |
