It doesn't matter what they could have offered. Staal wanted to goto Carolina.

Carolina should trade for Mark Staal and complete the set.

Wonder how a Staal-Staal punch down the middle will work... don't know if J.Staal is a true top sixer, especially playing on a weak team. His offensive stats won't be as easy to come by with no Malkin, Neal, Crosby, etc.

I know who he is, he is a good young defense man.

Even if we ignore the injury and he ends up being a top 4 D is 2 or 3 years it is still a bad pick. Any defense man except for Murray would have been a bad pick.

Only if Staal can become something else. Otherise it's a lark. Sutter is easily as strong defensively.

I just think that given such a wide open draft, probably would've been better to draft based on need rather than talent.
