I think they are trying to ice a team of all number 1 overall picks.......... I've studied their ways for the last 3 years and it's the only thing that makes sense........
- Sheppy99

Tambo played NHL 04/05/06/ 07/08/09/10/11/12 and figured out that having the All Star team as your team in Be A GM mode wins you the most cups = mentality for Oilers.

If that's the goal, you should be trading Kessel.

I guarantee Burke doesn't agree with your assessment.

Holy poop. We have refs coming out of the woodwork on this thread.

You don't even want to know what Adam French said about you by the way.

He's been to the playoffs for 5 of the last 6 years. The Canucks weren't exactly a powerhouse in 2007 but he dragged them into the playoffs and the 2nd round. Surely he can't be held responsible for the Panthers under Dudley and Keenan. He did his part. If you think the Leafs are as bad as those Panthers, then there really isn't a lot of hope for the playoffs in Toronto next season.

i don't know... burke is a bull and the leafs are the china shop. i think it comes down to goaltending , you better hope they go with the dynamic duo again next year and pass on luongo.
- hunglikeapuck

Hope? Dude I've been (frank)ing praying. I've converted a hundred times since I found out that Lu to T.O is a possibility. The God's have all answered my prayers thus far.

If we were the 2004 Leafs, then it makes sense. This is a bad fit because the best case scenereo is making it to 8th, then sweeped. This team is not ready to compete, with too many holes. Luongo just slows down the rebuild. In two years, Luongo is 35. Maybe then, we're in a position to actually get into the playoffs and possibly win a round. If we sign Luongo, have a middle of the road draft, next year, we've wasted the ability to get progressively better.
- PrinceLH

Why does everyone think that Luongo won't be still a top notch goalie in 3 or 4 years??

Honestly drafting first overall is like "you have a (frank)ing poop team, sorry that your fans have had to endure so many losses. We offer this first overall prospect as a consolation, hope he works out for you".

Piss off.

- A_Tree

Do you have all day wood, A_Tree?

I don't care for losing, and I understand what you're saying about the draft, but dude. Every team in the new NHL era - post 2005 lockout, now needs to re-build through the draft and have franchise players to win. Toews, Kane, Sid, Malkin, Doughty, Kopitar etc.

Well if the goal if finishing last and building through the draft, Kessel is a detriment to failing. Also, he's the most valuable asset you have with which to acquire higher picks. If you want to be last, you need your team to be noticeably worse.

In my book, Kessel should be traded. You don't win with players like Kessel. I'd trade him even up, for Nash, if it could be done.

It's not that. The "intentionally fail" attitude is ridiculous. Fun and games in the summer, but once the season comes along you want to watch good hockey - not piss-ass "rookies" Richarding around on the ice.

I'd love to get Mcwhatever but I want to see my team win more.

because he has issues now and will probably be worse in 4 years ?
although imo i dont think he deserved the treatment he got from van fans and the club , running him out of town like he molested their children or something.

You build through the draft, but Anaheim, Detroit and Boston all won without top picks of their own (except Seguin, but he wasn't a top line player or anything).
