This is CLEARLY the better option!!....I think the Nucks screwed themselves though cause now Luongo wants out...he may not even want to stay if Schneider gets moved...

Trade Schneider, Raymond, 3rd to Florida for Markstrom, Kulikov

Luongo earns his money. He's a great player. Comparing the relative value of Komisarek and Luongo on the ice is just not even close.

Honestly, I'd be more than happy with keeping Luongo. He was one of the Canucks best players last year. He is also only a year removed for a Vezina nomination and a finals appearance. I think if Gillis can get a boatload for Schneider, I'd trade him instead.

For the record, I like Luongo.

I just see this as Bryan McCabe, part II.

The press and fans and the rest of the league decided that Bryan McCabe was the worst player in the history of the game.

Why?

Because he was making a little bit more money than he should (not his fault), and he shot one puck into his own net while trying to clear it.

So not only was he a terrible player, but he was also a terrible person for having the audacity to suggest that he wanted to stay in Toronto (which I found doubly funny - he asked for and was given a NTC as part of his contract negotiations, and perhaps more importantly, if I was a Toronto Maple Leaf, I would never, ever accept a trade).

So in the end, we were "forced" to trade him to the Panthers for a bag of pucks and broken hockey stick named Van Ryn.

And all McCabe did in Florida was continue to put up points, while providing enough veteran leadership that they named him captain.

Luongo is done in Vancouver. It's stupid, but there you have it.

I'm just hoping we can benefit.

1)we ARE bad enough.
2)next season is already a lost cause, nothing is going to save it when bozak is your number one centre, phaneuf your number one d and reimer your starter.
3)2013/2014 start fresh without the burden of ridiculous veteran contracts, bring in the youth.

- Barx

so why not move some extra assets, bring in Luongo and get some playoff experience so this team can start on a winning track, rather than pushing for 9 years with no playoffs?

Why can't the goal be to have the best goalie possible and try to win games ?

- .HOHO.

God, I love that line of reasoning.

I want to make the playoffs, I want to win Cups....Luongo would be the perfect goalie if the Leafs weren't the worst team in the league besides Columbus.

dude...common....we were in the playoff hunt for 75% of the year and needed only like .500 hockey to squeeze in and ended up with like the worst record in history to drop to last place essentially...this team is good enough to battle for the 8th spot, but feel like without any upgrades, they miss out again. 9th/10th place finish is a wasted year.

this is what I forsee for next year without upgrades, staring in net.

But you have to crawl before you can walk.
you must win games and get into the playoffs to have a shot at winning the cup.

Its not difficult to understand people!

The only think that achieved with bringing in Luongo, is instead of a lottery pick, next year, we end up picking at 10 or 11. He's not enough to get us into the playoffs. Unless you haven't noticed, we don't have a number one centre, none in the system and if we don't draft one this year, none moving forward. There are no number one centre's in the UFA pools and if one becomes available, you have to gut your team to get one. Bringing in a 33 year old goalie, to a team that is far from being a contender is a waste.

we ALMOST made it last year, without him

would hazzard to say, its a safe bet that with the same roster, who are a year more experienced, a better coach and a LEGIT goalie...we make the playoffs.

I was just making fun of other Leafs fans who say give Komi and others more ice time, to "showcase" them for trades.

Aw, just forget it.

Moving on...

right....cause improving on our 27th place for GAA wont likely win more games right?...which wont ultimately move us up in the standings?....which wont mean the playoffs?
