I call Bullpoope on Burke. Why would we want to grab another defenceman, if we are already overloaded on the back end? If we are also in the race to grab Schultz, why do we need to grab another defenceman? No, it's all about finding the first line centre and failing that, another offensive threat. Goaltending is a distant second to offence.

Don't see an elite defenceman in this draft. Maybe a second or third ranked roster defenceman, but no Doughty or Karlsson's in this group.

Some of these bad contracts, may look good, on a one year deal for a team trying to fill a specific roll on a team. Maybe a team that has an up and coming centre, but won't be ready to take on the roll of a second line centre, this year. Connolly becomes an alternative, that helps that team get into a playoff spot. Once all of the teams that that lost out on a top end UFA, they may come sniffing around for players like Connolly, Lombardi, Armstrong and Komiserik. We don't need to get rid of all four, but two would be acceptable. It may gain us a second or third round pick, if there is a real deficit of NHL calibre players available, after free agent frenzy.

Karlsson was drafted at number 15. When he was a prospect, nobody thought he'd be a franchise d like Doughty who was taken 2nd overall

*edit. Guess I can't say nobody, as Ottawa thought he was a steal

money in a trade isnt a cap hit that burdens the team

and how can you even hint at the idea that burke wouldnt just go "meh" only 20 million.. he cant do that..

every penny is counted and taken into consideration.. you dont run a successful buiness otherwise

Newsflash for you.......... When Karlsson got drafted, nobody saw him for what he is now. That is why he wasn't drafted in the top 15

I agree and I don't see these players going alone if the Leafs make this deal. Personally, I don't want to see Loungo on the Leafs, because by the time the Leafs are ready to actually make a playoff push, he'll be on the downside of his career.

Ive always figured it will be something around Komisarek, Kadri and a mid-late pick. Thats what I think it could be...which I wouldnt be too upset with.
