He never said he'd play if he was traded. It would be nothing more than cap issues. The team he's traded to wouldn't have to pay the salary but would get the cap hit. And apparently 2/3 of NHL teams could use that. So he's giving permission to trade his cap basically, not him.

and it's doing the Bruins a HUGE favor allowing them to take that hit off the cap.

They signed him for 3 years, in hopes that he develops into a true #1. Bringing in a Mason or a Biron or a Johnson to back him up would show that they have the confidence for him to do so.
A Luongo trade says that as long as Reimer's a Leaf, he's a back up.

I totally agree. Luongo basically means that Reimer never becomes #1 in Toronto and shows TML has no confidence in him.
