..but has also said he is still not playing next season.
So basically, he's allowing Boston to salary dump him. The team that gets him doesn't pay him, they just get the cap hit. Perfect for a small market team needing to get to the cap.

- Barx

Darn it.

The trade market for Komi just got smaller.

He'll be 35 at the start of the year and has been a backup the last 3 years.
Reimer and Biron = Nathan MacKinnon.

I'd like to remind you that the Blue Jackets have a tandem of Bobrovsky and Mason. Tough competition.

That guy is such an F'n douche. Why play the games and melodramatics with the I'm taking a year off BS. why not just be a man and come out and say "hey i don't wanna play for your team no more"
- Sheppy99

It's not really a douchy thing. Apparently people are trying to reach the cap floor and trading for him would put him as part of the cap, but not on payroll, perfect for a lot of teams with low caps.

I seem to recall that Biron and Briere are buddies, and maybe even their wives are?

Something like that.

- Atomic Wedgie

The second bobrovski was traded, I figured there would be an announcement that Holgrom attained Birons rights for a 4th rounder.
Would be a perfect fit when Bryz falters.

I think Boston got that message pretty loud and clear.
- Atomic Wedgie

Well he could of said it like a man instead of dancing around it like a person who doesn't have the courage to break up with someone in a relationship

You'd see less drama from a 15 year old girl

But why would Mason be better than a Reimer/Scrivens tandem?

I'd rather just go with what we already have, thank you very much.

- Atomic Wedgie

It's possible that one of Reimer or Scrivens will soon be traded in a package. There are enough assets, on the Leafs, to make a move. What if the Leafs wanted to move up to the 2nd pick? What if, the trade was Reimer and the 5th, for Mason and the 2nd? What if? It was a prelude to the deal for Nash, with a defenceman, a first rounder, in 2013 and a Kadri? You have to keep an open mind with the idea of Mason finding his way here. He could possibly bounce back and become a decent goaltender again. A change of scenery could do that.

it is douchy in my books when you aren't direct about it and say "oh i wanna take a year off to be with my family" and than a month later say oh well i guess i'd play if it was for another team....... that's not douchy ?

How bad does your goaltending situation have to be for you to think “You know, I should call up the Flyers for help”

Did you read the article?

"Nearly 2/3 of NHL teams would be under the salary cap floor if it goes up to the $54 million level as it would under the current CBA fiscal environment, so there are a number of possible landing spots for Thomas if/when a deal is made."

So the answer to his question was, "correct" lol. We don't NEED a #1. Reimer was good to start last season. If he can play that way, we're fine and just need someone to help ease him into it.
- Domaju

They signed him for 3 years, in hopes that he develops into a true #1. Bringing in a Mason or a Biron or a Johnson to back him up would show that they have the confidence for him to do so.
A Luongo trade says that as long as Reimer's a Leaf, he's a back up.

Don't hate me for asking, but:

What do you think we could get for Scrivens?

My guess is the correct answer is:

Not as much as Leafs fans think.

...hence the 'when' he falters.
Biron could still get 30 games rather than the 8 he'll get in NY
