the more goalies that go the better for the Leafs.
mid-range goalies or goalies with 'potential' solves nothing-whether it be a veteran plug like Clemmonsen, A Raycroft-esque Mason, or a useless Bobrovski.
The fact is, unless the Leafs are attaining a true number one goalie, it makes absolutely no sense to aquire one....therefore the less teams needing goaltending, whether its CBJ, Tampa, etc....the less destinations/options for a real starter like Luongo.
I have to agree with that nimrod Cox, if Vancouver wants to trade Luongo, they have one option. Otherwise, Gillis can suck it. - Barx
no to luongo
i say we bring raycroft back this year.. have you seen next years draft crop?
personally.. i'd be just fine with another low finish |

One is not a very impressive number. |

You're really not interested in getting a #1 goalie are you? - Pecafan Fan
I just think that they will be wanting Reimer to re-assume that role. I think that whoever they bring in will be brought in for the back up role. |

If the Leafs have a goaltender on their wishlist, I can't help but assume that Mason is a possibility, especially after todays trade. Who knows with Burke? - AnnGee44
I think Mason would be a possible project, if we didnt already have Reimer/Scrivens...what we need is an experienced vet. No more project goalies. |

That builds a good winning environment that players want to come to. |

not saying I necessarily want Luongo, just saying that gillis is completely out of options. |

Got into the running for Martin Biron? Running? And Brent Johnson sucks...even more than Biron. - stormey
Biron isn't a bad goalie. He had a 918 save percentage the year he played over 60 games for Philly which was only like 2 or 3 years ago |

Martin Biron is another guy that I wouldn't be surprised about, if the Leafs got into the running (provided he makes it to July 1st)
Brent Johnson is another. - AnnGee44
Biron quite a personality , he would be perfect for HBO 24/7. |

That guy is such an F'n douche. Why play the games and melodramatics with the I'm taking a year off BS. why not just be a man and come out and say "hey i don't wanna play for your team no more" |

So the answer to his question was, "correct" lol. We don't NEED a #1. Reimer was good to start last season. If he can play that way, we're fine and just need someone to help ease him into it. |

Philly are already stitching Birons jersey.
Brent Johnson is good for one thing, his overhand right.....otherwise-completely useless - Barx
I seem to recall that Biron and Briere are buddies, and maybe even their wives are?
Something like that. |

oh (frank) yeah... the only one dumb enough to take him is burke
the carosel goes round..
its like there is this problem in toronto where all of a sudden the GM feels the team is too young and abandons building a team for trading for one
then we end up with stajan centring our top line and the next saviour comes in

..but has also said he is still not playing next season.
So basically, he's allowing Boston to salary dump him. The team that gets him doesn't pay him, they just get the cap hit. Perfect for a small market team needing to get to the cap. |

He'll be 35 at the start of the year and has been a backup the last 3 years.

Apparently Scrivens has to pass through waivers so if you're going to pick someone up they better be worth the risk of losing him.
I wonder if Backstrom is available? |
