How has his UFA moves set the team back.
Connolly - Kadri probably wasn't ready, only a two year deal while improving team depth and not rushing kids, not that much of a horrible signing.
Komi - hasn't played that much and he doesn't lose games single handily, who was supposed to play 18mins a night instead of Komi - Finger?
Beau = Lupul and Gardiner - enough said.

The fact we got Lupul and Gardiner for free makes all of Burkes little errors a mute point.
BTW - we'll probably get Schultz because of Gardiner aswell.

- HipHopisDead

They've financially handcuffed the team and they've all been absolute disasters except for Brown.
Connolly was just pure stupidity and desperation
Beach was good signing but didn't work out.
If you think Schultz is signing in Toronto because he is friends with Gardiner.....than you'll be disappointed.
Lup and Gard do not make up for the dumb signings Burke has done.

Yeah but he sucks.
- likmyass

CBJ sucks. In a Carlyle system, the Leafs will be far better defensively in front of him than CBJ was.

I hope Garfield got a penalty for that.

Odie was out for months with a concussion.

I have a feeling that the Leafs will nab this guy soon. I was pro-Harding until he re-signed, then Mason came on my radar. Now that CBJ has Bob.......who knows?

- AnnGee44

Great...another bad goalie...just what the leafs need.

Peter Chiarelli said Tim Thomas waived his no-trade clause allowing the Bruins to deal him prior to July 1. Sounds like he'd be ok w/trade

Can't imagine Burke would consider him an upgrade over Riemer and Scrivens though, can you?
- A_Tree

I'd say a Reimer/Mason tandem could be good. They both have something to prove this year, and it gives Scrivy 1 more year to develop in the AHL. I think it would be a good battle between the two.

Please do not write poop like this.

He hasn't played much because we don't want him to lose games single-handedly.

He's one of the worst contracts in the league. The sooner all Leafs fans admit it, the better.

Besides, when he's traded to Vancouver tonight, we don't want Canucks fans accusing us of only saying he sucks after he left the Leafs.

Now hear this, Canucks fans: Komi sucks. He sucks big time. And he will still suck when he sits in the pressbox for the Canucks this season.

- Atomic Wedgie

He has been injured a fair amount and at the time of the signing... who would have Burke taken instead as a UFA? And if there were no options... who do you think Burke would have targeted to play Top 3 mins that was already on the roster?

Good, because our PK sucks, so we can't keep taking stupid penalties.

How'd Carlyle's system work out for him in his last two years in Anaheim.
A system wont make him a good goalie.

Really?

Because I can't think of a single move that was prevented due to the salary cap.

NOT A SINGLE MOVE.

Even if it did, I'm happy to hear names like those mentioned already... Starts cutting down their cup window significantly, as they're trading some key youngsters going forward... could end up with them trading Zibs and Cowen, and having their most valuable forwards approaching 30

Just about everything went right for them this year, and they didn't get very far with that... chances of Mikhalek repeating, and Spezza staying healthy are pretty low... and when you consider Alfy may not come back, and the possibility that Karlsson doesn't keep up his near-ppg pace.... they really should be committing to the rebuild, and not trading for older, expensive, players.

So, yea, I'd like to see that trade.

- Feeling Glucky?

ya... but the Sens had some much success with the Heatley situation - they're looking to repeat it.

Bob cost a 2nd and a 4th. The Leafs have plenty of spare parts that CBJ would take

If you want another top 5 pick...sure put that crap between the pipes.
Leaf fans have gotten so use to losing with garbage players that they are now offering trades to pick up more bad players to continue losing.

Sad.

He was never the same player after getting jacked by Lucic.

Markov covered up for him.

It was a stupid signing - made even more stupid by the fact that we jettisoned Kubina to make room.

Kubina was and is a better player than Komi.

The smart move would have been to keep Kubina, and let Montreal re-sign Komi, thereby weakening a divisional rival.
