"Both Burke and Senior VP Dave Nonis are publicly stating that the prices on the market for the big names being shopped are extremely high and unless the prices come down to a more reasonable level, that the Leafs will select fifth in the draft tonight and stay with James Reimer and Ben Scrivens in net for the upcoming season.

These comments that are likely posturing to avoid the appearance of desperation on the Leafs part, but it is clear that if Toronto comes back from Pittsburgh with only Filip Forsberg or Teuvo Teravainen added to the fold, that this weekend will be labeled as a failure. "

this is such a croc of poop !

a failure?

the Leafs are 50 years of failure, one more draft is not going to make a difference !

posturing?

god !

bloggers totally over analyze for the sake of hits !

the best thing the Leafs can do is nothing except draft the player they think is best.

Burke also said on TSN last night, that his timeline for a goalie, if they decide to get one at a REASONABLE PRICE is opening game night !

Trying not to get too excited because it always let you down on draft day. What's your sense on what will go down today?

The Leafs should trade up to #2, sounds like Yakoffapov could be available, if not, Gally is fine.

I like that there is no rush to get Luonguo, the Leafs are working from a position of strength. VAN wants him off the books before July 1 so they can make UFA offers....wait them out.

If Grigorenko slides down to the late teens, a trade to draft him would be ok. Give him 2 years to develop and it could be a steal. I know some people who have had these labels of being lazy in the NHL before and simply its not true. The kid is 18 and had mono. Take a chance.

I'm starting to get sick of all the media hype. Many GMs have said its quiet but the media have been saying anything can happen for the past couple of weeks. After today, I'm tuning out until July 1st, then I'm tuning out until September.

You mean like putting him on loan to our good friend Marcus Naslund in Modo/Swedish Elite League?

Not much closer to do determining Luongo's future this am. Source close to the trade talks says "lots of balls in the air." #TSN

Seems like a lot of talk about the Oilers taking Murray at No.1 - I would think if they were electing to take Murray, they'd move the pick down a spot or two...I don't think Burke will bite on the asking price for the first overall, but I'd be pretty happy if he could move up to 2 and swap with Columbus so we could grab Galy, so long as the price isn't too steep.

If we stand pat and pick at 5, and Galy is off the table, I hope Burke rolls the dice on Grigorenko, he appears to have all the tools, and with two Russians in our line up that play like North American players in Kulemin and Grabo to mentor him, I think this is a pick that could end up really paying off.

I have a strange feeling that all the hype surrounding possible trades around the draft, plus July 1st free agency, are going to end up being very dissapointing to all us Leaf Fans...

We will not get:

Nash, Luongo, Parise, etc...

I am not drinking Burkes cool-aid...
