I was telling someone just that yesterday... Though columbus could grab Galy... Or ignore the russian factor alltogether... But itd definitely increase the odds that we get one of galy/forsberg.

he may have arguably replaced those assets through good trades...we dont know yet...but they werent free is the point most will make. Although we got solid players out of those trades that we gave up nothing special...we could have had all those above mentioned (minus Kessel) PLUS Gardiner/Colborne etc....although, you could also argue Colborne deal dosnt happen if Kessel deal dosnt....so...w/e....all moot points anyways....

that's why it is really poopty that Columbus isn't drafting 1st. I believe if you have to have a lottery for the #1 pick, the ability to win the lottery shoudl be influenced not by the standings solely , but also factor in how far ahead a team was in points... reducing the chance of the bottom 5.. .if the last place team was more than 2-3 points behind (I believe Columbus was 8 or 10 points back)... this should be factored in.

thats a completely different argument tho lol...instead of drafting that year, he saw Kessel and wanted him, so went after him. Bad trade vs bad draft. Two different arguments. And the book still isnt out on the trade yet, Kessel is an elite player in this league, as could be Seguin...all in all edge obv goes to Boston with Hamilton....but we got a solid player out of it too.

Id hope a promising prospect would be up by 21, expect it by 23, and give up by 24.

i guess it would go by propspect grade.. for example.. a top ten pick should be there at 21-22

whereas a fourth rounder might be 28 before he gets NHL time

or it might flip and the fourth rounder is ready sooner

look at tim thomas... how old was he when he finally cracked the NHL? serious. i cant remember.

but calling a prospect a bad pick or bust while he still playing junior is a bit silly if you ask me

Poor Canucks. Reading Botchford's latest article, it sounds like they're really counting on a big deal for Luongo to help them out for the upcoming season. Botchford said they're either looking for a centre to replace Kesler in the deal, or get enough assets from the deal to flip for a replacement centre. They'll be in for a real shock, because even if cap dumps are removed from possibility, they may not get much more than a prospect or two who alone won't be able to get you anything significant at centre.
