That's quite the defeatist attitude. Leafs have a few prospects on the verge of playing in the NHL, and a few more 1 year away. The bigger problem is the guys currently on the team taking their spots have contracts bigger than what their worth and we cannot get rid of them until their contracts are over (barring a trade).

- There is no miracle grow for this team, it costs too much and dosnt guarantee sucess. It means you may have less money to put into other needs for the lawn and you may not be able to water as much. It could cause holes in your lawn, thus the best route is to slowly grow your own grass, planting your own seeds, watering them and let them grow!

Anyone else think Burke might be able to pull off a fair deal with CBJ for #2 that includes the #5? It sounds like Columbus has some solid offers, though the lower down the draft the team interested, the bigger piece needed in addition to their 1st rounder.

No, he makes a valid point, even if he didnt articulate it well... This far, with the Leafs, his draft record isn't great. Its not that he's a bad drafter(again, its the scouts that do the drafting) its that the only pick he had that could have generated an NHL regular by now, he traded away.

thats a completely different argument tho lol...instead of drafting that year, he saw Kessel and wanted him, so went after him. Bad trade vs bad draft. Two different arguments. And the book still isnt out on the trade yet, Kessel is an elite player in this league, as could be Seguin...all in all edge obv goes to Boston with Hamilton....but we got a solid player out of it too.

Id hope a promising prospect would be up by 21, expect it by 23, and give up by 24.

Saying that Burke is a bad drafter because he traded the picks is like saying someone is a bad driver because they sold their car.

a better way to put it is... Burke is not a bad driver, he just cant drive the car well because he traded his 4 tires for new motor... the car is faster, but is not going anywhere without the tires he just traded

he may have arguably replaced those assets through good trades...we dont know yet...but they werent free is the point most will make. Although we got solid players out of those trades that we gave up nothing special...we could have had all those above mentioned (minus Kessel) PLUS Gardiner/Colborne etc....although, you could also argue Colborne deal dosnt happen if Kessel deal dosnt....so...w/e....all moot points anyways....

Normally I watch the games through a nhl.com subscription, but doubt they will have the draft on, and probably won't be able to see the tsn feed here in Europe..
