If Burke wants Lu, he better bring his best offer. I think Gillis is done messing around.
- IanEsplen

I believe you overlooked the smiley face at the end of this comment.

I would think Gillis' is probably more concerned about the deals he's already made (e.g. Hodgson) and how they handled the Luongo/Schneider situation back during the latter portion of the season and during playoffs, and how those decisions (or lack of decisions) impacted the current situation.

Then again maybe Luongo just wants out of VCR because he's concerned Ballard might swing and hit him in the head.

Some are definitely better than others. Burke's management of the draft has not impressed me. Just my opinion, fellas. Overall, what I'm female dogging about here is our utterly woeful draft record. We've been out of the playoffs for 8 years, bottom feeding, but we haven't been able to draft even 1 franchise type player.

i do think wilson and kadri's egos clashed

he talked about him not being responsible defensively while he playing kessel top line minutes

- Dozzer

When Kadri scores 30 goals and 60-80 points, then he's allowed to be crappy in his own end.

But when he's barely contributing offensively, and was making defensive errors, then what exactly is he accomplishing?

Yak, Gal, Grig and Forsberg go top 4 would it be so bad if the Leafs got a Murray or Reinhart with the 5th pick ? I know Leafs fans disagree with a D pick but doesn't it just create even more room with the assets to trade for a top 6 forward ?
- IGNITE

Id take Murray. Bpa, its the oldest rule in the book.

Schenn (not Burke pick but..) & Kadri have played on the Leafs, some are in NCAA, can't get them to join the team, they are committed to the school, others stayed the course in Junior. Remember Kadri the first training camp and pre season, he actually out performed all the players on the roster but was sent back.
- LeafMan

like i said.. 4th year after the draft is when you can actually start to look at picks as NHLers

its nice if they are ready prior to that.. but its rare

also, i think with carlyle at the helm we are going to see alot more of kadri now.

No no. You're complaining about the last 8 years and no franchise players.

So apparently Burke is to be blamed for the last 8 years.

Good stuff man.

just a quick question

how many years do you believe it should take a prospect to reach the NHL?

also.. side note.. seguin was only brought up to the nhl in his rookie year because boston didnt want him playing in junior since he was too good for the league but they couldnt put him in the ahl because he wasnt 20

so, for a typical pick.. how many years?

These guys have all been so awesome for the Leafs. Definite evidence of his skill as a drafter.

Let's see how many top draft spots we had over those 8 years, the only top spot was second overall and Seguin is NOT a franchise player, those type of players are generational, people use the term "franchise player" to easily here.

lol he was played on the third line

i'm not getting into a kadri debate.. he deserves a shot with top 6 minutes.. if he fails then.. okay.. time to move on

Yes and no. Why keep trying to trade for a top6 forward, instead of just drafting one. Id rather trade to move up and grab a guy like Galy, rather than pick another defender and try and trade him for a current NHLer...unless its for someone like Staal

Happens every time. As soon as you point out a hole in the argument, people attack you for bringing up the facts. Fair enough. The Kessel deal ultimately will be Burke's failed legacy in Toronto.
