burke wont pay anything of note for a ten year contract

he already stated hw will go with reimer and scrivens

and the last time the leafs AHL goalie took the baby leafs to the AHL final he got brought up the next season, and got the leafs within one win of the cup final.. which is something to consider

we dont need lu.. and i am not calling him bad, he's a great goalie.. but it doesnt make sense for the leafs.. they just arent far enough into their rebuild to bring a guy like Lu in.. by the time the rest of the team is at that level.. lu will be on the decline big time

Lu would represent to me the typical impatience in toronto.. making moves to make the post season at the expense of the future.. i've seen this cycle a few times now

- Dozzer

I'm only going to write this one more time, and then anyone who makes further comments should be banned.

We will take Luongo if we don't have to give up a tangible part of our future.

Komi and D'Amigo for Luongo? Welcome to Toronto, BobbyLu.

Kadri and Gardiner for Luongo? Quit smoking BC Bud.

That is all.

tell me right now

which roster would you rather have at the moment?

and i mean think about it.. its not an easy choice

- Dozzer

C John Tavares
L Matt Moulson
R PA Parenteau
D Mark Streit
C Frans Nielsen
R Kyle Okposo
R Michael Grabner
C Josh Bailey
D Travis Hamonic
D Andrew MacDonald
L Matt Martin
D Milan Jurcina
D Steve Staios
L David Ullstrom
D Dylan Reese
C Marty Reasoner
D Mark Eaton
C Casey Cizikas
L Jay Pandolfo
R Nino Niederreiter
L Trevor Gillies
R Rhett Rakhshani
D Ty Wishart
C Micheal Haley
D Aaron Ness
D Matt Donovan
D Calvin de Haan

Bolded are who I would consider assets.

C Phil Kessel
R Joffrey Lupul
C Mikhail Grabovski

C Tyler Bozak
D Dion Phaneuf
L Clarke MacArthur
C Tim Connolly
D Jake Gardiner
L Nikolai Kulemin
D John-Michael Liles

R Joey Crabb
D Luke Schenn
D Cody Franson
D Carl Gunnarsson

C Matthew Lombardi
R Matt Frattin
C David Steckel
C Nazem Kadri
D Mike Komisarek
C Joe Colborne
R Mike Brown
R Colby Armstrong
R Colton Orr
L Ryan Hamilton
C Philippe Dupuis
L Jay Rosehill
D Mark Fraser
R Carter Ashton

So, of those lists....I would say its damn close....each team has an edge over the other currently for different reasons. I give the slight, biased edge to Toronto given that I feel Toronto has enough extra assets right now to make siginificant moves in the near future.

If Burke wants Lu, he better bring his best offer. I think Gillis is done messing around.
- IanEsplen

Best offer: Komisarek, 2nd. Maaaybe a middling prospect or Franson.

what makes you think he's so desperate to get rid of that contract? i don't get it. the cap hit is not crippling. Gillis can wait as long as he wants to make a deal, as he should. he can very easily bring Luongo into camp as the backup even with Schneider being given a raise. and it's not like Schneider will get that much money anyway. and if Luongo holds out for a trade, big deal. still a better option than adding a useless piece like Komisarek or Connolly. you seem to think that Gillis has no options but to dump him to the Leafs, and you're just wrong.
- DoubleDown

Schneider and his agent aren't idiots...if Vancouver's offer him 2.5-3 million per, and some other team is offering them 4+ per, they'd likely thing pretty hard about their options.

thats what i have been saying.. the nucks are going to have over 12million in cap space heading into the season..

the only thing that it effects is their ability to sign schneider long term.. but even liut, schneider's agent said they will take a short term deal because schneider cant go sign elsewhere.. the nucks are under no pressure.. for about a year anyways

what gillis should do is hold onto both and wait to see what injuries, bad season, etc show up through the course of the season.. it will widen the market, thus driving up the price for his assets

Because he needs to re-sign Schnieder, who has indicated he has no interest in returning as BobbyLu's backup.

They need to lock down Schnieder to a long-term contract. He won't sign a long-term contract if he thinks Luongo is still in the stable.

Pretty simple, really.

1) Schneider wont sign long term with Lu there

2) Eddie Lack is looking at options in sweden if he's not in the NHL next year (per Insider Trading)

Ha ha ha...if by done messing around you mean done sniffing gasoline...
Leafs are essentially the only suitor for Lu...so if Gillis wants to move Lu (which realistically he needs to) he needs to realize he isn't gettin anything of value. While Lu is a professional, how awkward will it be in the Nucks dressing room when the backup goalie is getting paid more than the starter...especially when the backup should be starting...

well balanced assets, however, toronto gets the edge because of how much money they have imo

I have to say, Burke is making me proud. We both want Luongo...neither of us would pay likely what Gillis wants....brings a tear to my eye knowing Burke wont make the wrong move to get Luongo...its either homerun or dosnt show up for the game. Atta boy!

Of course he would - that's a player's dream come true.

Become a UFA as early as you possibly can.

But from the Canucks' perspective, that's awwwwwwwfully dangerous.
