That's just one bonus. There are others.
- MJL

I guess, then, that that was the biggest bonus.. because it effectively reduced his cap hit in half.

Thats a super bold comment. I was leaning more toward Seabrooke. Pronger was a number pick and is a HOFer..

I think hes going to be a special player....flyers know this.

Wow. Have ANY of you guys seen Ryan play?
Plz, answer truthfully.
I watch this guy 30+ times a year. Parise IS NOT Light years better. And to suggest JVR is going to be BETTER than Ryan is stupid. Parise is BETTER, but saying Parise is light years better id saying the same thing about Bryz and Loungo.

Thats all i will say.

with any player no matter what their star status is....it's the FIT with the team. Everyone is pining for Weber, let's play what if... what if her doesn't fit in and he cannot adjust his game?
The same could be said with Ryan, and Parise....or any other FA or tradeable player out there...
just because they can be had for the right trade doesn't mean they will FIT in with how Homer is building this team.

that's why i would rather take a wait and see approach.

the kind of people that spend an entire day chatting about the flyers on an internet message board don't really have time to keep up with the news. so, i appreciate the conscientiousness, bro.

Just got in from beach and Bob is traded? Whats the consensus? 3 picks isn't too shabby with a 2nd in there. Gonna miss Bob though

I think it was a great deal for the Flyers.. they wanted to move him anyway.. and in the process they got a 2nd, 2 4ths, and saved on his cap hit.

82 games- 31 goals- 38 assists- 69 points

Bobby Ryan (while playing with Perry and Getzlaf)
81 games- 35 goals-29 assists- 64 points
82 games- 34 goals-37 assists- 71 points
82 games- 31 goals- 26 assists- 57 points

I don't think he'll be on the board at 45. Unless they use the #20 on Dansk (unlikely), I think Korpisalo could be a pick for them later.

Not at all.. I am suggesting that Giroux and Getzlaf are both verrrry verrry good centers. Getzlaf has the edge is a few things, giroux a few others.

My point is that for three seasons Ryan has been a main stay on the top line, and has put up good numbers.. JvR has never gotten extended time on the top line, and has put up decent numbers. I think JvR needs a season on the top line..

I think you can replace Jagr with out trading JvR + for Nash or Ryan.

In your argument you say our offense needs help because we are losing Jagr and Hartnell cant be expected to reach the same numbers....

So trade two very talented young players for one?

So you lose three gain one... and it improves the offense?

- jak521

1) JVR play on the top line, and couldn't stay there... Never deserved top line minutes.

2) We need to replace Jagr and use an JVR+ trade to land a top winger.

3) Not sure what "two young guys for one" or "three for one" that you are talking about? I assume you mean - Lose Jagr via UFA, and JVR + (another player) for top winger... While Jagr's gone. To gain a top winger you need to trade players, picks, or prospects. Not sure what it would take to land Ryan. But, I assume it's less than Nash. If we're going to trade someone... JVR was a non-factor last year, so it's really not replacing. Assuming ANA wouldn't take JVR for Ryan straight up... picks enough, or another player? I'd do Ryan for JVR and Read. Wellwood could fill in for some of what Read did. Ryan more than exceeds JVR role - a win for us. If they want Voracek, then Reads off the table and maybe a pick or Wellwood or Rinaldo... Who knows how it would shake out to be.
