call me crazy, but I dont think either will be franchise type guys...
- jak521

I'm just going on what I read here, I don't know enough to make a personal opinion on them. If they aren't, then stand pay. Either way I think the flyers will make a good pick regardless.

It also helps when the player you wanted, which would of been a mistake, is picked a spot before you pick, and your left to "settle" for Giroux!

Best thing that happened to the flyers in a long time.

I have said quite a few times, i would like to see this team grow and allow the youth to gain additional experience. I would only tweak the roster to add a player not gouge the roster.

Stay the course...is my motto...
it was nice to see a lot of young guys in the lineup with some Veteran swag

- phi1671

I agreed to a point. The fact is that we have so many young players that it wouldn't be the end of the world to trade some for a star player.

I don't think we're going to resign Jagr. So, we'll have some extra cash.

The "Rumor of Nash for Read and JVR and Bob" Read would be missed. As for Bob, I like to see what he develops into - however, he is not actually needed. JVR has always developed slowly, and continues to have set-backs. He was a non-factor all of last year. Sorry to say, he won't be missed. He may develop into a hell of a player - but, the Flyers have several of those (Schenn, Coots) that are ready to or already taken his spot.

So, if we did take that trade... Nash far exceeds JVR production. Wellwood/Rinaldo/Sestito steps in for Reads role on the 3-4 line, and Schenn increased ice time on higher lines should be able to offset Read production. And, we pick up a cheaper backup Goalie. Homers, got to think this is a win.

Again dont get me wrong.. when I watched the World JRs I thought Dumba looked reallly good.. He had something like 14 points in 7 games.. as a d-man.

But I also think he was able to use his physical ability (despite his lack of size) to get the edge on other ppl his age and size.

If he grows a few inches and beefs up pretty considerably (right now he is listed at 6' 170) he might be able to play that same way and end up a #1ish 2way d-man... otherwise I think he ends up more like a James Wisniewski (which isnt a knock)

I have been pretty fortunate to have watched a bunch of different CHL games this year... some of those are just as (if nto more) exciting as NHL games..

Don't be upset when you get a lump of coal. Don't think this draft will help us next year.

I agree - trading JVR to move up would really suck.

- Daman

It depends on what the detail of the deal, and other things Homers working on. If Homer needs to drop salary to pick up - lets say Weber... And, if the Preds don't want JVR... I'd trade JVR for a high pick (to either use or trade).

You can't look at it that way. Schenn can't step in and offset Read's production. Then who will off set Schenn's production? It is a domino effect. And do you really think that Wellwood/Rinaldo/Sestito can step in Read's role? Extremely doubtful.

Hey I'll take your word for it. I have heard though that Dumba is a heart and soul type of player. and that he was goin to approach training camp like a freight train or something ha. I like players that have that competitive edge. It'll be really interesting to see what does or does not transpire today.

I think we are all on the same page. Don't rip the fabric of this young team.

JVR for Ryan is a good trade for us.

For D-man, I am more intrigued by Myers and Johnson than some of the bigger name D-man. Don't know what that would take though.

Rumors are just that, rumors. Should be a fun day.

JVR for Ryan doesn't do anything for me, especially is ANA wants more.

They'd sign new forwards to put on the 3rd/4th line anyways.

Nice thing about JVR is if he produces like we think he's capable of, he will be a bargain for the next 6 years.

Do you think you can find a Forward that can play in all situations. Put up 25 goals and close to 50 points for 900K? In terms of value for your dollar. Read is a very valuable player.

I would love to have him in O&B just think he can be a bit reckless at times...

I know he wont fall to us, but I think Radek Faksa is gonna surprise a ton of ppl.. Guy is like a melting pot of skills.

I have no doubt that JVR will be a 30 goal scorer (when healthy). Why trade a 30 goal scorer who makes 4.25 for one that makes 5.1?

The best description I have heard is that some people hit the ice running, he hits it like a train.

He is a fierce competitor, which would be welcome on my team any day.

He is somewhat akin to Behn Wilson (minus the regular fights) in his draft year, both in terms of hockey skills and self-assurance that borders on being cocky and head-strong.

You CAN go wrong with Dumba if he doesn't grow up a little and become more receptive to coaching and systemic play. Hopefully, his NHL career won't be the roller coaster ride of wild inconsistency that Wilson's was.

Ryan is the player we want JVR to be... ANA isn't going to trade a known quantity for potential without getting more in return. I'd be happy to ship JVR plus to ANA. Of course this doesn't mean that I'd over pay for him.
