DW doesn't have a history of pulling big deals of late?

Was Michalek, Cheechoo, and a pick for Heatley not big enough?
How about Seto, Coyle, and our 1st for Burns, and a 2nd?
How about Heatley for Havlat?

That's not even mentioning the Boyle trade of 2007-08 or the Thornton trade of 2006.

Isn't DL responsible for some of that?

It all comes down to Zach. the devils love a few of the same top guys...especially Murphy, who I think goes 1 to Edmonton...hearing tonight the Nail may slide to 3. As for the team from earlier..I don't have clearance to say, but if the pick comes up and the player they want is still there...I am allowed to go with it.

I would cry so loud. I would seriously run around town if Montreal got him.

Is Alex Steen on the move? Is David Perron moving? Stewart?
What will the Blues do?

Frankly, I don't want Nash. But with DW's history (both past and RECENT) of making huge trades for superstars, I'm concerned he might do it.

Holmgrem's made the Carter, Richards, and Pronger deals.

But what massive trades has Sather made? He's more renowned for his ability to overapy for FA's.

- sjsharks92

Gaborik and Richards come to mind but it has more to do with the Rangers assets they have to trade for Nash as well.

I really don't think you want to tie up 7.8 million in Nash anyways either. He's a great player but I get the slight feeling he could turn into the next Dany Heatley (highly doubt it) but the chance is enough to send shivers up my spine.

And for 7.8 million a year, the guy better be a guaranteed 80-100 point guy every year........ which again I don't see. I Could see him leveling out like Lecavillier at 60 points a year. Nice player but for 7.8 million? yikes

Gaborik and Richards both came to the Rangers via Free Agency.

I believe I said FA or trade in my original post?

Any reason why Edmonton wouldn't attempt to trade the #1 pick with a team like Montreal or NYI? If they're going to draft Murphy, he'd almost certainly be available in either of those 2 spots, and they'd get good return for the pick.

You said trade. But I agree there is competition for both.

In the case of Nash though, he'd be acquired via trade, and nobody makes things happen in trades like DW... for better or for worse. And in this case, I'd argue it's for worse.

i dont think what was asked went past the line, by asking a big hockey rumor provider why it took 20ish mins longer to put up a major rumor which was talked about/mentioned prior to the post isnt exactly crossing the line, yes we get that your busy but with todays technology a source could have quickly just texted you some quick details or said call asap and we wouldnt need to ask

it wasnt a big deal, and honestly i think your making it a bigger deal than it needs to be and the word idiot didnt need to be mentioned

The point is just because 1 person reports it somewhere in the world Doesn't meant thatnEVERYONE knows that one person reported it, nor does that mean suddenly everyone else must immediately be aware of it and stop working on something they may have been working in for a week or who knows how long? It would be a full time job just to try and see what hasn't and has been said on the Internet, and if I spent time doing that I would NEVER get info out.

Point is, if you trust me, you don't want me wasting time doing that. You want me posting what I hear and getting back out there.

i have talked to top media guys and we joke about the fact we have to add " I don't know if anyone on twitter has already said this, but..". Twitter is limited to 140 characters already!

In closing. Not everyone who follows me follows everyone else. My job is not to tweet. My job is to report to MY readers MY information. Some of that info will be reported elsewhere by people who are watching the same sport. Talking to the same people. My job is to assume my readers are coming to me to read my thoughts. I can't assume everyone is reading Mallard. If I know he is reporting it, and it is something I am not aware of, I do try and say "per tsn " or "per reports" erc...

But I also don't expect them to be reading me. They all follow me, but I still don't accuse them of stealing my work. This afternoon, Kyoreos put out there Pavelski was in the deal for Nash. Did he steal that from me? I've been talking about Pavelski being in this deal for months. still I won't accuse Kyper of anything. he is reporting to his people.. And I am to mine.,

Enough soap box..

Rookie GM at his first draft though? Not likely but If he pulls off any sort of move this guy has balls and Hab fans should start getting excited.

As rookie GM of a proud franchise that is struggling and heading the wrong direction, what does he have to lose? Obviously his job, but sitting back and doing nothing isn't what that team needs.

Gentleman.... lets get along here... everyone is different... and you guys both seem like pretty cool dudes... I'm on here a fair bit (usually at night) and still manage a pretty good life! Having a computer and internet I imagine you're both priviledged enough that you shouldn't be ripping on eachother this way... making everything so personal.

Lets get alone boys...

I think Burke has a history of making the unthinkable happen. Look at the garbage he traded for Phaneuf (aside from Ian White, I like whitey) as well as the Beauchmin deal.

I think Burkey has a history of doing some crazy shiat but put between Holmgrem and Sather and how desirable each location is to a potential player vs the assets they have to trade in return, I think both would crush Burke in that regard which is why I don't put Leafs even on the radar for a Nash deal or a Ryan deal. I'd put the Sharks ahead of the Leafs but no where close to the Flyers and Rangers but that's just my opinion based on those 3 factors. Location, assets and GM.

Only time Burke swings a deal is when it's a trade that's on the downlow

Making a deal with that pick is risky... most GM's are about risk management.... keeping their jobs
