Well they did sign him last summer to a new deal. Unless he's had a spectacular fall from grace since then I don't see what has changed. What I would understand is if they needed a C (because say Doan and/or Whitney were not returning) and therefore needed to dangle the one area they seem fuller in prospects - defense.
