Isles are going hard after Doan - after he got the hattrick against them they couldn't dare allow it to happen again. It's simple strategy, guy lights you up sign him. - Mr.Black
He isn't leaving Phoenix and if he does, which is unlikely, do you honestly believe he would choose the Islanders? I wouldn't. |

Pittsburgh needs to be careful in pointing fingers at teams where players may want to leave. It seems to me that the situation in Pittsburgh suggests that there are some unhappy campers. Do you think there may be some other players who are also unhappy? I don't believe a player turns down $60m because he wants to play with his brother. There are some strange things happening here. |

Update 2am
I am hearing Yakupov only has about a 20% chance of being an Oiler. The plan is to either move the pick, or select a different player... Also hearing the Jackets don't want to draft Nail either...meaning if Edmonton can't move the pick, Yakupov could slide to Montreal at 3.
I cant see any way Edm doesnt take this kid, he's too good to pass up, unless another team blows them out of the water..wont happen. |

When you say "hear", do you mean you read it here? In other words, you are citing comments from this website. |

Does it suggest there are unhappy campers in Pittsburgh, or does it suggest maybe he would rather have three or four year contract instead of a 10-year deal? That is a long time. My bet, if Shero offered that, he would have been signed yesterday.
Doan is a lifer in Phoenix. |

I don't know. From a distance it smells like strange brew. Most players are looking for long term deals because of the speculation that the new CBA is likely going to curtail the term of RFA deals. No doubt it will unfold over the next days.

Love the Vermont Catamounts video. Just cant get enough of it autoplaying every time I click into one of your blogs. Totally not annoying. Julie does a good job, but maybe you can disable it until something newer comes along? |

Would love to see Yandle in Boston!
Happy it's draft day. also find it interesting even if not much happens. Tons of anticipation for deals and when Bettman says "We have a trade" makes somewhat entertaining.
On another note my friend sent me this link last night : http://droppassrumours.wix.com/home
another rumour site that just started up yet said he had a site before? ... Pretty amateur looking site and the guy admits it but for a quick read I bookmarked it since it is rumours and all. |

I can understand why they don't take Yakipov.
What I don't understand is why they keep the #1 if they are not going to draft him. Not only could the Oilers get a (likely) top 4 D, but then they swap picks and also get one of those top end d prospects int he draft.
The only issue is if they feel someone like NSH, MTL or NYI is going to take their pick, because I am sure Burke would gladly swap out for the 1st pick for his 5th+.

Yandle can't choose where he will or wont go. Doesn't have a NTC. He will go wherever pheonix trades if they decide to trade him at all. |

market is good for defensively challenged defensemen right now |

sounds like fans of about 20 teams think Parise is theirs for the taking/signing |
