I think Burke has a history of making the unthinkable happen. Look at the garbage he traded for Phaneuf (aside from Ian White, I like whitey) as well as the Beauchmin deal.
I think Burkey has a history of doing some crazy shiat but put between Holmgrem and Sather and how desirable each location is to a potential player vs the assets they have to trade in return, I think both would crush Burke in that regard which is why I don't put Leafs even on the radar for a Nash deal or a Ryan deal. I'd put the Sharks ahead of the Leafs but no where close to the Flyers and Rangers but that's just my opinion based on those 3 factors. Location, assets and GM.
Only time Burke swings a deal is when it's a trade that's on the downlow - Sheppy99
That trade was an anomaly... can't expect such things in the future |

I think it depends on the player. A guy like Marleau is perfect in SJ. He'd get eaten alive in NY or Toronto or Philly. Frankly I'd never want to play in Philly or NY. (not that it matters though, i can barely skate ) |

I'm not really sure what this guy is getting at. Holmgrem's made a few big trades since the lockout. Sather's only made big splashes in FA. And Burke's all over the place.
I think he just isn't aware of DW's wheeling and dealing in the offseason because he's out in SJ. |

Well the reason players avoid Toronto is because like you said, it's easier to play in non hockey markets where the temp is warm and 2, leafs management prior to Burke was an absolute joke and laughing stock of the league which is why we could never sign any big fish.
At least in the last 5 years Burke has brought respectability back to our franchise and shown future players we are trying to do things the right way this time around and build through youth.
In my opinion you'll never win with a player who can't handle a real hockey market anyways cause they usually suck under pressure in the playoffs, no offense to Marleau I actually like him somewhat.
More of a broad statement to the pussies who avoid toronto cause of the media circus |

nope, I don't think anybody can
Just saying Burke tends to make his big deals when he's the only potential suitor. He doesn't usually win out against other GM's when competing for a player.
Two factors....... well 3 actually now that I think of it, Toronto is a media circus, Burke doesn't believe in cap circumvention and the other teams usually have more depth to offer whether it be current roster players or prospects.
When it comes to the Nash trade (and I don't want him anyways) The only player that puts us even on the radar as the other teams is Jake Gardiner and I would not trade Jake for a 7.8 million dollar almost 30 year old player. |

forgiving tends to be done by the stronger people since it's harder

Yup
Gardiner is the first young player with REAL potential to hit this team since I was in (frank)ing diapers... And if you believe the hype Gardiner=Schultz (I do) so trading him would be beyond foolish. |

Yep, that was DW. I give him a lot of credit for the Boyle trade too. People forget about that.
Sharks get: Dan Boyle and Brad Lukowich
Lightning get: Matt Carle, Ty Wishart and 2009 first round pick (Kyle Palmieri)
Lukowich kind of sucked, but without Boyle, we don't reach the WCF either time in the last 3 years. |

Thank you. I always tend to go the forgiving way because 1. Its the right way, 2. Often fixes things, 3. You feel better about it then holding a grudge. |

Yo EK whats going on with the flyers? are they after Bobby Ryan or the 6th overall? - baldo14
It's a possibility...but I get the sense the Flyers have a specific player in mind. If that player is on the board at six...all hell will break loose. |

I will say this though, as happy as I am to have Burns on our team, giving up Seto, Coyle, and a 1st was too much. |

difference is that wasn't something personal to you, you didn't have to go through the stuff that i have gone through and you wouldn't understand it unless it happened to you or someone very close to you
when it is something that is with you everyday then you would understand and while what vick did was horrible it doesn't compare to rape |
