i doubt that both things would happen (highly doubt parise signs in philly)
unless the prospect is schenn or couts i dont see that landing a stud dman, ryan or nash |

I know Parise is a long shot...but i'd take him over Nash and Ryan. Plus, he wouldnt' cost us anyone. I'd rather sign Parise and trade JVR for a d help. |

The problem with getting Parise as a UFA, rather than a trade for Nash or Ryan, is that you are adding salary but not sending any away.
Still possible to do that, but makes it a lot harder to manage.
Also, the Flyers don't need forwards, they need to replace Pronger. |

agreed -- that's why I mentioned trading JVR -- I don't want Suter. I'd take Wideman....but probably not at the price he wants. |

The other thing I am not completely sure about is this... Pronger will go on LTIR next year, but for cap ceiling considerations, I am not sure you can take his LITR cap savings until it happens (ie: he misses actual games). The implication is that you would not have Pronger's full cap hit available at the start of the season, but on-goign as the season progresses.
So currently Pronger's contract is "on the books", and you can only go over the cap by something like 10% if I am not mistaken, but need to be under it by the start of the season.
That could be tricky to manage. |

I'm curious to see what the Sabres do, who's with me?
I'm waiting for this first trade to happen, of course I'm at work and I've got TSN and Hockey Buzz opened all day. |

My sense, Oilers make pick, no deal. I believe Yakupov is the right call. At #1 take skill, with star potential. Trade for safe and solid.
Ummm, Ek you were saying 20% chance? |

Its a good ploy to drum up hits on the busiest or 2nd busiest day for this site... Not sure the servers will take it though |

Actually it's a lot easier....instead of trading assets away that you really don't want to ...you stick overpaid under perfomers salary mistakes in the minors to make the cap room work.
