I think he means Leino - Roy - Adam.

While that line is interesting, I think it's bad to awful overall.
It shows the largest problem on Buffalo right now, and that is it's ability to form a 3rd strong line behind the Hodgson trio and the Ennis trio that will be dangerous all over the ice and able to score goals.

They don't have a combination that would work right now, and that means the other two lines face the best D the majority of the time.

i still say adam is trade bait...their wings on the big club are pretty much set and wings are readilly available at the draft, as opposed to centers...

if he can't be a top-six center, there's really no spot for him

jimmcc7722 just posted...

Rumour has it... Penguins wanted to sign Staal because they had intentions of trading Malkin for a boatload to Toronto.

Trade would include... the 5th this year, their first next year, Gardiner++++

I don't believe that for a second...

Ugh...if the Leafs got Malkin I would jump out my office window.

other than kessel (who's not on malkin's level,) the leaves haven't come close to landing a malkin-type, impact player...

and they do not have the assets to land malkin and there's no way pittsburgh would trade malkin...

well I am gonna go work out over my lunch break because it is depressing how little of action is actually going on today... I thought it would be bomb after bomb after bomb with how dry this years UFA pool is...

Hopefully I'll have a TON to catch up on when I get back.

I think if I did that, my liver would fall out. Seriously. You're going to have liver failure by the age of 40.

save yourself the trouble...grab yourself a box of captain crunch, add two cups of sugar and wash it down with a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk

The overall problem, and to me it's a big one, with the Sabres, more then the D or needing Miller to be consistently better, is the forward group.

Right now, they have two solid lines.

Vanek - Hodgson - Pominville
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford

After that? Scraps.

Roy, Gerbe, Leino, McCormick, Kaleta, and both Adam & Tropp.

Constructing a 4th line is easy.

The big, BIG problem is constructing a solid 3rd line out of the above.
I don't think they can. Not an effective one at least.
Ennis and his line are a perfect 3rd line to me because they will draw the lesser pairing D and can create havoc in the other teams zone.

Who on any 3rd line you can come up with from the parts above is going to scare you due to their effectiveness?

- kingcong39

really?? That's the answer? Hodgson as the first line center? The problem with Buffalo is most the team is overpaid, glorified 3rd liners. Hodgson is a kid still learning his game. And Foligno had a great quarter of a season and now his an automatic second liner? your counting on alot from kids just starting there carriers. I'm not saying they can't do it but you shouldn't have to count on them this soon.

Not sure if you realize, but when we had our great run right out of the lockout, most of the guys on that team were kids. They were good because they didn't know any better and they played hard night in night out. Then they got comfortable and we have the mess we currently have. It's time to hand the torch to the young kids and let them run with it.
