@JohnLuTSNMtl: #Sens Bryan Murray says his team is still in the Rick Nash hunt, still talking with #CBJ. Has not investigated Bobby Ryan availability.

@JohnLuTSNMtl: #NHL Commish Gary Bettman and Patrick Roy are having lunch together at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. Draw your conclusions #TSN

Actually, Derek Roy's best years (pointwise) were the 3 seasons post Drury and Briere

True, but if you add the added ice time. Well I'm not great at math so. I still think that trade would still give the Pens a great chance of having 3 scoring lines. But... I thought of another problem. Even if all the stars aligned, Venus aligned with Mars, and we landed Staal. That would create another problem. Hodgson would be very unhappy being put back as a third line center again. The same reason he wanted out of Vancouver. He would probably have to be traded. Maybe in a package deal for Ryan or Parise?

I don't see us having 3 lines set up like that...

I see scoring like 1A, 1B, and 1C.. with a 4th line as our checking/defensive line.. There might be one of the scoring lines that is considered better defensively then the others but.. yea..

Vanek - Hodge - Pommer

will benefit from a full off-season and camp together.. I promise you that. If that is the case and we don't trade for a 1C or trade Vanek.

I think it will only be a short matter of time before Hodgson surpasses Ennis.

If I was Darcy, Ennis would be the key piece I'd be offering in a trade

The only players that I'm against moving are
Hodgson
Foligno
Ehrhoff
McNabb

I'd like o see the following moved
Roy
Vanek
Sekera
Ennis (provided another center would come back in another deal)

Everybody else I would be open to moving depending on the offer

Negative ghost rider.... Foligno - Ennis - Stafford IS the reason why we even got as close as we did to the playoffs...

If I remember correctly Vanek, Roy, and Pommer were colder than a polar bear's toe nails for the last 12-18 games.

Dubinsky wouldn't shock me either

See, I'm opposite. I think Ennis is going to be a superstar center in the not so far future. Hodgson to me is going to be a step above Peca and a step below Kesler. He's going to be a good two way center scoring 20-25 goals. Again, just my opinion.

agreed on Dubinsky

I picked 5 names out of right field based on needs and most of the players traded on draft day are surprises

Wouldn't stop me from including Ennis in any deal for a bigger piece.

Ott would be a hell of a nice piece to add to our bottom 6...

We need bottom 6 help and a 1C more than anything.. we could keep the pieces we have currently if we get those 2 and be a REAL division title contender in my eyes with Tim Thomas taking the year off.

Wait...I'm confused. So is Stafford the reason we got close, or was he colder than a polar bears toe nails?

I could see that in a way. It's gonna depend on how things go for him in the next few years. I do see Lindy trying to use him like he did Drury and Ennis the way he did Briere though. Now we just need to get the guy that can play as the 3rd line guy to create that balanced scoring attack we had back then.

agreed

I am not against any idea that involves trading Myers. Of course it would all depend on the return. I know Darcy feels different

I like Foligno's chances.. big tough guy that leads by example.. pots goals.. lays the wood.. wins fights..

and I accidently typed stafford at first with Roy and vanek as being cold.. but corrected my mistake..

Foligno, Ennis, and Stafford were all at 1 PPG late in the season if I am not mistaken.

True. It obviously depends on the next couple years. I just have a lot of faith in Hodgson and think that he will end up being Darcy's greatest accomplishment.

Hopefully Darcy won't be here to enjoy it

I can see Hodgson as captain
Foligno and McNabb get the "A's"

Wishful thinking? maybe

You could be right, But I just don't see Hodgson taking the reins yet. But if we could land Staal, and keep Hodgson, that would be a heck of a 1,2,3 punch down the middle.

Foligno already has a way of speaking to the media that has "captain" written all over it. It's too early to say for sure, but he could very will be a captain down the road. I think he could fall into the Dustin Brown type of mold.

just a thought

did Roy, busting his ass to be able to play game 7 vs the flyers mean anything, or does his rushing to beat the fans to the bar trump all of that hard work he did?
