getzlaf or staal...not nash, though...

i like mcnabb...he's unlike any other d-man in the sabres system...a young robyn regehr-type

I knew some would disagree with the Nash addition...

I would NOT be okay if McNabb got included on a trade for the likes of Ryan, Stasnty, Kane, Riberio, Filppula, Thornton, or Marleau.

I don't think i would be okay if McNabb was traded for Parise's rights either.. I think there are other things we could send besides him just to obtain someone's rights.

I think if the addition was a true bonafide 1C I am okay with McNabb going.. but not for a bonafide Winger.

I can agree with this... trade the future for the present.. you just hope you don't trade too much of the future...

I think Buffalo is a high 20's aged team.. i think they could trade prospects and not run the risk of falling into a deep hole because their team will be too old before newly added prospects are ready to step up..

I think outside of Foligno... every prospect should be considered... If it takes trading McNabb to get a Getzlaf, Staal, or Nash.. I would do it.

I'm looking at it that Miller has two years left and for as much crap as he gets we know he can win games for us and is the best goalie in the league when he is on his game. I for one don't think he will resign here after his contract is up. We need to make a deep run in the next 2 years. For as much as I enjoyed McNabb I'm dangling him to other teams. I believe Pysyk is going to be very solid on our back end and he has the nice RH shot on defense. Maybe i'm too optimistic or overvalue our players/picks but I believe we have the assets to get what we need. #1 center, 3rd line bruiser, #3 or #4 defenseman.

You know.. I never really thought about that.. You are probably right.. he will want to play on the West Coast to be with his wife.. much like Mike Fischer requested to be traded to Nashville to be close to his wife Carrie Underwood. I could also really see Miller going to Detroit.

I can see Miller leaving in free agency.. but i can't see the Sabres trading him.

The way I see it is that I want to keep both Pysyk and McNabb.. because Regehr and Leopold will most likely be gone after this year.

Myers - McNabb
Ehrhoff - Pysyk

Just read in the latest Hawks blog that the Sabres are in on Niklas Hjalmarsson. Thoughts? He'd be an upgrade at d for sure, but wow, we're already pretty deep at d.

It would have to be in connection to a bigger trade I would imagine... Hjalmarsson was a guy that got offer sheeted by SJ and forced Chicago to match it just to screw with their salary cap..

If we are after him.. i would imagine Kane or even Bolland would have to be involved as well.

Or we are after Hjalmarsson because we will be trading off D assets in another trade and need reinforcements.

If they get him, that opens up room to trade two of Sekera, Leopold, and Weber.

He is not good enough to warrant 3.5M if you ask me.... He doesn't put up a lot of points.. and he isn't known to be a hitting d-man.. as he only had 42 hits all of last year in 69 games (which is one more hit than Leino threw last year).

But what he does do is block down shots.. he had 142 blocked shots which was 2nd best on the Hawks behind Seabrook and 32nd best in the NHL.

I did some research on leopold earlier this week.. he was our biggest minute eating defensemen on the team last year... he was on PP, PK, 5-5.. and he did it all.

Sekera, Weber... yea I'll pack their bags for them.

I think i heard that Sekera is due a 1.5M bonus on July 1st.. and some teams might not trade for him until after that is paid..

Leopold was clearly our most consistent D man last year

I'm wondering how teams value our 21st pick and if it could be packaged in to bring in a center. I could see the Sabres wanting to keep their 12th and selecting a defenseman (Maatta, Ceci or Lindholm) and then being able to trade McNabb. I believe they are high on Maatta and it is said he looks up to Tepps. But who knows maybe they feel McNabb is untouchable. Like I said in my opinion our best chance to win a cup is these next two years if we can get those players we need.

I more so see us trading the 12th for a center and keeping the 21st to take a late prospect who would be obviously farther away from the NHL.. I really like Wilson with that pick.. another 6'4 power forward like Foligno is to protect his linemates.

I would agree... Leopold changed when he came to Buffalo a lot like Myers has...

They both started off as very above average offensive minded d-men.. but both are now well-rounded players that don't really stand out statistically in either.

I really don't know how much Leopold has enjoyed his time in Buffalo.. maybe he has really enjoyed it and stays on a 2 year deal or something.. the guy had 128 Blocked shots last year and 150 more minutes on the ice than the entire sabres roster.

i wouldn't mind keeping Leopold with Ehrhoff to be our vet presence.
