Nash has regressed almost every year since then, and makes an absolutely ridiculous $7.8 million/season. JVR is only 23, has shown signs of improvement, despite some injury troubles, and is signed at a reasonable cap hit for six more years.
If the trade goes down, I would expect it to be more than just JVR, but not JVR, two firsts, and a decent goalie prospect. Taking JVR over Nash is just my own opinion. I'm aware he has less trade value. - Fosco

it's unreasonable to demand one man carry a team to the playoffs, especially a forward. While his goal totals have dipped over the past 4 years he's still one of the best power forward in the league. Is he overpaid, yes. Is he a good player, yes. |

Burke has Gillis Bent over his knee and driving the price so low that, He may just have to throw in the Sedin sisters just to take Luongo - billyberg10

I think lou goes to the sharks, maybe for patty. I really don't think nucks fans will agree with that? But at this point beggars cant be choosers. Lou goes to the sharks, and the leafs loose out on a big name player. again. - Deadmau55
I'd do Lu for Thornton. Marleau is useless for us for what he brings in the playoffs and at that cap hit. Would rather keep the Luongo-Schneider tandem. |

Take out a first, but I think after the Howson bashing Holmgren is the one to crack on the demands. Just trying to have crazy speculation |

JVR has what? 40 points at most in a year and he is a good cap hit. Strange |

Anyone consider a Nash for Luongo one for one swap? What would Nuck fans think. |

nash's point total each season during his first 3 years in the league. 39, 57, 54. JVR's point toals during his first 3 years, 30, 35, 24. While JVR might one day be the better player, that day is not today. |

He's good. Not even close to 7.8 million good. And like I said in the edit of my last post, I don't buy the whole bad linemates story. There are players who have done a lot more with lesser players than Huselius, Carter, Umberger, Voracek, Vyborny, etc on their line. |

Lu. all star goalies don't grow on tree's. Let's use the leafs for example, keep in mind this is me not bashing the leafs. Nash doesn't make them a playoff team. He's not a center or a goalie. Luongo get's them much closer to a playoff berth. |

JVR is 23, and doesn't get near the minutes Nash does. Not to mention he likely would have continued his development very nicely if he hadn't gotten injured. I'd take JVR at 4.2 over Nash at 7.8million. |

You and I have had some good conversations, even though we differ in opinion, so does that qualify as "typical Vancouver fan class?" If somebody says something stupid, it comes from an individual, not a fanbase. - Fosco
Your point is obviously correct. I was just pointing out that Leafs fans have dealt with the same thing for many years. |

he's never had that group of players on the jackets on the same time. they've never had a franchise defensmen or a number one goalie for a period of time. Look at Stamkos. Stamkos is the best player in the world, but even he couldn't lift the bolts to the playoffs this year. You know why, because he had a 43 year old goalie and guys like gilroy and bergeron on defense. |

Good line mates typically don't make that huge a difference in stats anyway.
I agree though, Nash is wildly overrated, for him to succeed he needs to go to a place where he won't necessarily have to be the top guy |

I never said JVR was better now, but I would still take him over Nash, now, considering their salaries, and if JVR can stay healthy, he'll likely improve on all his totals.
JVR's health is a bit of a concern, but not much. |
