I'd take these predictions over any of the other nonsense I've heard today. I'm finding you on twitter. - AlexF
At least I admit I make it up I could be like one of those dumbasses that says "I could be riskign my job here but I am hearing x y and z will happen" There is someone that posts on the Oil blog that does that its so funny.
First off, it's Howson we're talking about. That man is high as a kite if he thinks (and if the rumors are true) that he'll get 2 top 6 and 2 prospects (one of them blue chip) for Nash. - AlexF
at the deadline he wanted a top 6 forward, a top 4 dman, 2 prospects and 1st round pick. Glad his demand dropped slightly.
Staal stays but eventually moves to Carolina next off-season Nash gets traded to Philly for Van Riemsdyk, 2 first and Bobrovsky at the draft.
Ryan stays but the ones that come closest are the Rangers.
Pat Kane stays (BUT if he does gets traded its to Buffalo).
Luongo goes to the Panthers for a First a Second and Upshall. - mrhattrick27

Nash is a great player, but he will not go for that much...chances are, he'll stay a blue jacket, far more likely than Luongo being a Canuck next year...

Nash's contract is worse. The guy has done nothing his whole career. - billcanuck
Yeah. Those medals from the Olympics and the World Championships and the Richard trophy must have been flukes.
Unless you've been closely following the Jackets since Nash joined them, you have no idea how little support he's had. When Mike Peca or Manny Malhotra (both great guys and decent players) are the best centers he's played with, you know there are some serious issues with the team. Every time he's played with quality linemates (not even superstar linemates) he's putting up the points. I can't even begin to imagine what he could do playing with a guy like Crosby or Malkin (just two good centers that came to mind, not implying anything).
I really hope that he goes to a good team. I think that the Nash naysayers will be eating crow by the truckload.
If the Canucks can move Luongo and his crap contract before the Jackets can move Nash, WTF? - OtherKevin
The difference is Howson is an idiot, and thinks he will get top value with a player that wants out. Gillis knows that he will not get everything he knows Luongo is worth.

Here's the thing. Unless he's going to start putting up 85-90 points a year, he isn't worth that contract. He could play very well, go to another team, and put up his career 65-70 points a year, but he would be underperforming his contract.
Considering the other players who seem to be available, why would I team want to give up two top 6 forwards and two first round picks, OR ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT, for a guy who rarely breaks 70 points?
I'm 50/50 on whether I would sign him as a free agent to that contract, so once you factor in the assets you would have to give up to get him, it's a big no-no.
Thee are better options out there that actually outperform their contracts, not underperform them. And in a cap world, you don't win by paying players who should be making $6.5 million a year $7.8 million a year.
Burke has Gillis Bent over his knee and driving the price so low that, He may just have to throw in the Sedin sisters just to take Luongo - billyberg10
