As I posted earlier, he makes 1m each of his last 4 seasons. Either a) he'll retire by then, or b) he plays for your AHL team those last 4 seasons. It's a 6 year contract. And he's a big upgrade on Niemi. Now is he worth Thornton, that's a different topic.
- AlexF

I'd be stunned if DW traded Thornton. He's got a massive man crush on him.

Now, if Luo ended up in Teal at some point this offseason, I wouldn't be surprised, but I doubt you're getting JT for him.

no, he was dead on serious. we argued back and forth, and i kept saying luongo's contract kills his value, and that there arent many teams interested in him that need a starting goalie and can handle the contract, which is why luongo would fetch a good prospect/pick and a salary dump going the other way. he maintained that luongo is a quality starting goalie that teams are lining up for and would fetch a huge return because the market is thin. the fact is, there is barely a market for luongo, so there is no leverage for the nucks. the only possible teams i see are (in order of likelyhood)

toronto: definitely best fit. leafs need a starting goalie, and can dish out something like kadri/kulemin + armstrong/komisarek as the main pieces
florida: lu would probably waive to go back to florida, maybe for shore + upshall + 2nd
sharks: need of a big shakeup after playoff dissapointments, aquired stuart so murray is no longer needed. niemi + murray?
columbus: would lu waive to go here? doubt it...umberger + calvert/savard?
chicago: hawks desperately need a starter, but the leafs have a better chance at winning the cup than the hawks and nucks making a trade this big.

I don't care if he was serious. 99.9% of the proposals made on this site don't go down, whether the value is there or not. Do you sit and wait to jump on every proposal that doesn't go down? It's all for fun.

The value in that deal is a little of, but it's far from the worst proposal I've seen on this site.

How easy it is to forget that it's a cap cheat contract, now that they're illegal

He can't get his facts right either it was Luongo Booth for Clowe Niemi.

im just trying to prove a point, because vandel is apparently extremely knowledgeable about the nucks. even the nucks fans i know arent as blind and know there is a salary dump going the other way for luongo.

The two best playoff performers in the game right now swapped for each other. Could you imagine?!

I said it earlier, and I'll say it again, I don't care what Howson's asking price is, it's too high for Nash. Pavs alone is a more valuable asset than Nash.
-Plays center and is among the best in the league in the draw circle.
-Scored more points last season than Nash
-Comes at a 3.8 mil cheaper cap hit, on a much shorter contract.

- sjsharks92

He would look good with Big Joe.

If you are happy the way things are it's ok .There was a lot of talk after your playoffs to expect big changes.

I am not sure I would want Nash either.

Not sure why this is funny. There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't want Kulemin

i expect them to get a first round pick, middle level prospect and a 2nd line forward or top 4 defensmen. they will not get both the forward and defencmen, only one of the two. Kadri, Komi and amstrong are not gonna get you and all star goalie in return.

Woah, woah, I never proposed any deal. But I'd be just fine with a trade involving Clowe and Niemi.

Definetly not happy with things as they are. I was hoping to see McLellan on the way out. His quantity of shots over quality of shots thing just isn't working. I'd like to see big change.

Now, I don't however believe that change should involve Rick Nash.

Agreed with this. The only way a deal with those 2 guys as the centerpieces happens is if DW feels a serious shake-up is required and the older guys go on the block. I'm sensing that could be happening with Marleau.

right that's why the drafted so high in every draft. That the blue jackets own fault for draft crap players. but tell, do you think the nucks would a playoff with either of those three in net. i doubt it.
- tomburton99

in their division with the sedins and kesler and their D they may still be the top team in the NW

can you be more specific, i.e list the players and picks? middle level prospect can be anything, first round pick can be anywhere from 1-30.

Depends, is Hitchcock coaching?

The Canucks made it with Cloutier and Auld, with a weaker team than they have now.

I never said it was Nash's fault that CLB doesn't make the playoffs. Unless Nash starts putting up 100+ points, I'll always think he's overrated, because that's what he's hyped as, and that's what he's paid like.

Even with better linemates, and putting up numbers in the 75-90 point range, he's a $5.5-6.5 million dollar player...

Hell, Ryan Kesler put up similar numbers playing with Mason Raymond, and Mikael Samuelsson, won the Selke (meaning he's not 1-dimensional, like Nash), and he's only paid $5 million.

exactly Kulemin is good. Kardi, quicly apporaching bust status. Komi is now in redden territory and amstrong has the concussion issue now. in what world is that a good offer for an all star goalie?
