And in my opinion atlanta got screwed on that deal. - Oilfan19
oh hell ya, but still, Nash wants out. Howson's (frank)ed. Get what you can and move on. if it's a lottery pick and a good prospect, he wins.

It sounds like Howsons been ignoring the list for quite awhile now, so I bet he's trying to see if he's open to some teams not on it.
- S Kaspar Rollins
So it's partly about motivation. Nash said (at least publicly) that his trade request was to help the team rebuild. If Howson can get a better deal from a team not on the list, can he not say "the 6 teams on the list won't give us squat, but this other team will give us what we really need to go forward, what do you think?" You'd think that there is at least SOME measure of leverage there. Especially if it's phrased as, "You can either approve the trade to this team that isn't on the list or you'll be playing for us again this season." How badly does Nash want out?
I think Howson is going to hang Nash out like he did at the trade deadline. Howson will get a great deal from a team that is not on the list, and tell the media that Nash nixed the deal, and let the media crap on Nash. - acresd
I would hope not, but I wouldn't put it past him. Given that he undermined his trading position once already by telling us that Nash asked for the trade, would he risk further damage? If you were a team owner or president and you saw Howson do that, wouldn't that cement his position on your "do not ever hire this scumbag list"? I mean, Howson's reputation is already mud, how much more would he be willing to trash it? |

Can't blame him for trying that's for sure.
Would love to have him on my team...but not at the price of a top 6 forward, a top prospect and a #1. He can have 2 of the 3 but he ain't getting 3 of the 3. - Juice
I think this is the answer he is getting from most GM's as well, hence why no deal has been done yet. |

Pitlick projects as a 2nd/3rd line winger...Colbourne as a #2 C...if you prefer Kadri (or another prospect), I'm sure TOR will sub-in. I think the need of EDM for D is overblown though...yes, they could use 1 more top flight D prospect, but otherwise you've got: Maracin, Klefbom, Musil + 3-4 others in the minors who will all be NHL ready in 2-4 seasons... - mventres
Pitlick can play C too but had a rough go last year. Lit it up in the playoffs tho. Dont want Colbourne and dont want kadri. Agreed tho that the need for D isnt as serious as people say, a top pairing guy would be perfect |

The reason that turned out so badly wasn't just because Heatley wanted out but because there were only ever 2 teams (SJ and NY) that he would accept a trade to, and the Rangers backed out. I think the same thing could happen with Nash if he sticks to his short list - S Kaspar Rollins
I think the Heatley situation really fixed Nash's wagon though. If I were Howson, I would straight up tell him to expand his list, or not be traded. My guess is that he'd expand the list. Sure it's shady, but hey, it's no less shady than requesting a trade in the midst of a massive contract.
I really believe that NMC/NTC should become null and void if the player requests a trade. As soon as a valid (in writing) trade request comes from the player, the NTC is waived. The player wants to break the contract, so be it, then open yourself up to be traded....anywhere. That's the whole point of the NTC in the first place. So the player doesn't get screwed. But it also encourages the team getting screwed. Not fair imo. |

Id be suprised if Kane didnt have some kind of no trade clause in his contract and why the hell would he want to come here to Hockey Hell ? - buffalo 1
nope... NMC kicks in 2014, but nothing till then from what I see.
Buffalo's his hometown no? Oh I get it, it's cause he knows what Buffalo's like, no way he'd ever come back. Gotcha

With Carey Price going to arbitration and PK not so happy in MTL...could there be a possibility they both get shipped to EDM and MTL gets #1 and #3 and maybe something else out of this deal?? What about sending a nice vet like Gomez (wishful thinking I know). Going to get interesting for sure!! |

and why would the devils trade parise's rights away when they havent started contract talks (which will start after the draft)while making it known that parise is the devils #1 priority, doesnt seem to make much sense
also we dont care who wont be traded, just who is rumored to be traded - dmarsden2988

pretty sure Edmonton would give you the 1st overall for Price straight up.
Send PK and the 3rd to Pens for Staal.
Draft Nail.

I personally think it's probably harder for Burke to make trades now that he's raped so many GM's in the past. Watching that video of him telling Don Waddell "you're drafting stefan and we're getting the twins"
haha, hilarious. "you guys draft the franchise killer or else" ......... Brian Burke |

price still has another year with montreal and subban has no arbitration rights, so subban is stuck with the habs. |

He can play C, at the AHL level, but he's really not done well at that position...he does seem to be a better winger. As for Colbourne/Kadri/etc. That is up for grabs, TOR has a few C prospects who could be #2 C. Perhaps it takes 2 of those prospects, with the hope that at least one of them turns out to be a #2. Point is, I think that trade would be beneficial to EDM, more so that taking Yaks + trading Gagner to get Reinhart/Murray at 6. Yaks is a great talent, but has some concerns, plus he doesn't fit a need for EDM...if anything he complicates things. |

the only time 1st overall would be worth price is if crosby is re-entering the draft. |
