But can you even name another columbus forward? I think he will do great somewhere else. - Oilfan19
But should that really be the case for a guy making 7.5 million? Someone making THAT much is supposed to be able to create stuff on his own or making players around him better. Why would I pay someone 7.5 million to put up 60ish points with not much support... so now I've got to put him with a 6 million dollar guy (sedin) to get him to 80 points.
Thats why you want to spread those dollars out... you want to be able to put 2-4 million dollar guys with a 7.5 million dollar guy and have them contribute.
Again, Nash is a great player... very solid... getting paid to be top 10 player in the league... and he isn't. And to make things worse... Howson wants a kings ransom for him.... |

in 2 years when Tucker's buyout, which actually counts against the cap, is also of the books

If Colborne is all those things, why the hell are we trading him for Yakupov, who is at best a younger russianer Kessel with a bit more defensive game (maybe) - Big_Lightnin
Colborne couldn't fetch that. He could be great, but he's as close to Getlzaf as he is to Tangradi/Penner/Antropov. He'll be a permanent NHLer though. |

Cause Burke wants Yaks+Galch as a #1 line, versus still looking for a #1 C and having Colbourne. EDM has a #1 in Nuge, they need a #2 with size for #2. Makes a ton of sense...not sure it'll happen though...EDM and TOR don't really have the best relationship... |

True, Im not saying howson isnt crazy I just think Nash has more value then people outside of columbus are saying. just not as much as howson believes - Oilfan19
Look what Ottawa got for Heatley. If Nash wants out, they won't get much for him. Unless a gm gets desperate. |

"I have had at least three sources today inform me that Toronto is talking about Nash and Luongo and moving up in the draft, while all along getting closer and closer to obtaining Parise's rights...stay tuned."
Are you seriously trying to suggest that the Leafs are looking at Nash AND Luongo, AND moving up in the draft AND obtaining Parise's rights?
Where, pray tell, are all these assets coming from?
Also, you forgot Bobby Ryan. - hemlock34
Not only that, but how would they all fit under the Cap? lol...
Luongo, Nash, and Parise combined would be almost $20mil... |

Can you blame howson, I think someone will give him what he wants out of desperation. |

The reason that turned out so badly wasn't just because Heatley wanted out but because there were only ever 2 teams (SJ and NY) that he would accept a trade to, and the Rangers backed out. I think the same thing could happen with Nash if he sticks to his short list |

Can't blame him for trying that's for sure.
Would love to have him on my team...but not at the price of a top 6 forward, a top prospect and a #1. He can have 2 of the 3 but he ain't getting 3 of the 3. |

Simple. They plan on rolling two lines, and 4 d-men.
That's the entire roster right there. That and the Tucker buyout (yes that's STILL going). |

maybe, but if I'm in the room, I keep pointing to the Kovulchuk trade - now sure, difference is Kovi was pending UFA, but statswise, it isn't even close. Kovi is worth more than Nash.

Colbourne is very close to NHL ready, and projects as a very good all-around #2 C/W with size in the mold of Getzlaff...those are VERY tough to come by and consequently are VERY valuable. He's worth a top 5-10 pick this year. Basically, it's like trading two picks in 5-10 for the #1. That's a pretty hefty price I think. - mventres
I'm a Leaf fan and try to see things positively.....but honestly, I don't see it. I think Colborne will be a flop....marginal 3rd liner at best. I hope I'm wrong but I hope we can trade him if he has any value now. |

Pitlick projects as a 2nd/3rd line winger...Colbourne as a #2 C...if you prefer Kadri (or another prospect), I'm sure TOR will sub-in. I think the need of EDM for D is overblown though...yes, they could use 1 more top flight D prospect, but otherwise you've got: Maracin, Klefbom, Musil + 3-4 others in the minors who will all be NHL ready in 2-4 seasons... |
