There rumor regarding Zach Parise and the @Avalanche is legitimate. Deal in place includes 7 year deal, 49 million dollar deal.

Todd Cordell ‏@ToddCordell
I don't know who started the rumor, but Zach Parise's rights have not and will not be traded to Colorado.

Dale the Wombat ‏@wombathockey
There are apparently multiple teams with deals in place regarding @NHLDevils forward Zach Parise. Devils weighing offers.

I'd take a few pluses away. I'd much rather have JVR than an overrated, overpaid, one-dimensional forward.
- Fosco

You may want that, but judging by the asking price they didn't budge on with the Rangers, and what they turned down, JVR and a late first isn't going to get it done. I'm not personally valuing Nash one way or another, but with the amount of injuries JVR has had Holmgren is going to have to make it worth Howson's while.

I did something similar a few days ago. Had the nasal spray next to the visine. Next thing I know I'm dropping Nasonex into my eye.

Who knows. It could also just be quiet with no storm approaching. Hopefully you're right because this is freakin' boring. Thankfully there's a Euro cup game on to kill the boredom.

Drawing from yesterdays talk, I like the idea of signing Jagr. He's big, he's a vet with a Cup ring and he's a skilled playmaker. He could be great on the 2nd line with Kesler and he could play with the Sedins. He's basically everything I wanted in Selanne last year, plus some passing skill but minus some footspeed and sniping. I'd definitely make a pitch to him.

I agree. I think he would be a good bridge until guys like Kassian and Jensen can step in and play big minutes.

Vancouver Sun article today on Gillis' drafting record:

http://www.vancouversun.c...+again/6815548/story.html

Highlight on the lottery that is the NHL Draft:
But with a team still capable of challenging for a Stanley Cup, Gillis could trade his top pick or others for more immediate assistance.

He said a new draft analysis done by the team reveals anyone resembling a sure thing goes in the first six picks, and the odds of making the NHL declines significantly after about 15 players. By the start of the second round, the odds are 50/50 and falling fast.

“Those numbers become challenging particularly when you’re picking in the last five picks of the first round,” Gillis said.

“They become lottery numbers. If you get players beyond the third round who play on your team, you’ve uncovered a gem. And usually it’s a player who is under-developed when he’s selected, so it’s a risk.”

It does require some discipline which took me some time to acquire. But with conference calls, email, IM, it's tough to hide.

I did read somewhere that he was interested in playing in a Canadian market. Considering his age I'd imagine he's in more of a win now mentality which would rule everyone out apart from us. That supposed statement could also be hogwash of course.
