I agree. If they trade for a D man it had better be a top pairing one. Schenn(or any other 2nd or 3rd pairing D man) won't help this teammuch at all with the current roster.

JVR for the 5th is intriguing tho depending who's on the board.

They could just be hoping for an overpayment or maybe they're feeling like they can spare the defense, god knows they could use some more offense. Whitney & Doan aint gonna be around forever.

seems maybe the flavor with a struggling team is to claim someone is available & to sit & see what's offered, (even if the guy might not be really available), just to see what another team would curiously offer, & if it's more than speculated, they contemplate moving him, (like the Ducks did with Ryan before), as it seemed they claimed he was available, but he didn't even come close to leaving Anaheim

Schenn has a favorable cap hit and is a big physical defender, young with great upside. Kimmo and Carle hit no one, although good players in their own right. I just think we could use some nasty on the defense. Granted I haven't watched Luke play a ton but his high hits, low pims intrigues me. Jmo.

We don't need Bob (and could use the cap space) plus a nice swap from 20 to 5 tomorrow.
