I think theyd try and unload a defensemen too, Michalek or Martin, to get rid of either contract. Free up 5 mil, sign Crosby to a cap friendly deal, go after Parise.......crap

I'm thrilled Staal doesn't want to sign long-term with the Pens. He's not your average 3rd line center, not by a long shot.

Why? Staal is more of a 2nd line center in the league borderline 1st line center. Do you believe with Crosby's concussion history he is going to be able to play another 5 years?

Since Staal is going to be an UFA at the end of the season, how much are teams willing to give for a guy who could be a one year rental?
