Ek mentioned star power. Elder doesn't come to mind.

I guess. He had a very nice season though.

I think it'd require too much to pull him in. Anaheim probably isn't shopping him as much as seeing if a team is willing to overpay. I wouldn't be willing to overpay, but maybe that's just me.

Depends what the overpayment was.

Just imagine the show Giroux/Ryan would put on on a nightly basis for years to come. Would be an absolute force. G breaking 100 points a season and Ryan scoring 30-40 goals!

I have always loved Bobby Ryan and would love to see him play with G!

Hartnall easily scored 30-40 goals playing with Giroux. If I'm overpaying for Ryan, I'd better be getting 40-50 every year. JVR would almost certainly get 30-40 if healthy

Giroux can just as easily break 100 points playing with JVR scoring 30+ goals.

Doubt the Canucks are looking to move him, although he did take a bit of a step back in the second half of the season.

what does that matter?

He'll have a chance. Just don't know if it's going to be with the Flyers or not.

The thing is this time last year the feeling was JvR was untouchable. Now after this year (w/ all the injuries) he's soured. Not sure why the Flyers are looking to move him and upgrade with another forward like Ryan or Nash.

Lets put it this way. They have interest in other players but when it comes to any deal JvR is the name being mentioned. This is the same player last summer who was untouchable after his stellar play during the playoffs.

Past 4 seasons:
Bobby Ryan (25 years old): 31, 35, 34, 31 goals
Scott Hartnell (30 years old) : 30, 14, 24, 37 goals

Bobby Ryan is a true model of consistency in the NHL, which you don't see often. 5 years in the league and the past 4 he has 30+ goals. This is the kind of guy that just performs. Pair him up with a guy like Giroux who is another true model of consistency and a super star in the league... your looking at something special.

Keep in mind... you would have BOTH Ryan and Hartnell playing with Giroux. Would be an absolute force.

How many guys around the entire league have scored 30+ goals the past 4 seasons? Would love to see it.

I'm not trying to discredit Ryan's performance, but he does play on a pretty power packed line out there in Anaheim.

JvR seems to be a very popular player to get in return in any deal.

Giroux is better than anyone he has played with in Anaheim.

And I'd bet there is no more than 7-8 players in the league who have scored 30+ for the past for seasons straight... where can we find this stat without spending an hour looking through the past 4 years?

I don't know if we have a trade to announce, but draft board in Pittsburgh showing 5th overall belongs to BUF, 12th overall to Toronto.

Also making sure the fans with good eyes were super confused. RT @tdenninger: @nhlupdate Dreger confirmed they were just testing the board

Ryan is the third best player on his line :/

I think you'll have to just do the research.

Maybe all of these teams want JVR for a reason...

Unless its bringing in a star d-man, keep the kid.
