True dat for sure, but don't you believe (as I) that it is a function of so many young players?
- Daman

hmmmm it could be but also it happened the last couple of years as well...

Last year, you could say youth
but the previous years can you say chemistry or leadership?

I don't mind a game or two but when you start to see a small trend something is going on that we are not privy too.

most people here understand the diff between goals against that are a function of team d more than a goaltender's failings. at the end of the day though, one can only conclude that bryz had a rough year while offering us enuf glimpses of what's possible when he's got his head on straight to feel optimistic that the adjustment period is over.

however, in all of my 40+ yrs of following this team, I've never observed so many excuse-makers for a plyr who just didn't get it done. let's judge him objectively this yr...

- isaiah520

It wasn't excuses being made. It was staying positive, supporting the player, and giving him a chance to adjust to a new team. I would think in 40 years of following the team, you would recognize the difference.

Clearly the Flyers are bidding up Nash. It is the Rangers who will make the biggest push.

We will not trade for him.

If you can't understand what is going on, too bad. The Flyers are looking at D. Not much out there. So I put more weight in that if they make a move, it will be for a younger, promising D-man. They have great trade assets but limited cap room.

Let's all use our heads.

- Daman

I hope your right and they are going for defense. But thanks for setting us straight!

If you had your choice, but were forced to move both JvR and Voracek (plus), which would you do...

JvR, Voracek, 2 firsts, MaB to Nashville for Weber.

JvR, Voracek to WPG for E.Kane, Tobias Enstrom.

Weber without a doubt. I'm not as enamored with Enstrom as many are.

And I know it was a hypothetical, but you'd never get Kane and Enstrom for that.

The craziest part about this whole thing... is that once he got acclimated, and adjusted accordingly.. his numbers were better than most.

Looking at his numbers from January on he was right there with the Vezina winner and runners up.

He didnt just come to a new team.. he went to a new team that was new to each other... He didnt come into an established long standing same roster team.. We had 10 guys on the team that were playing for the Flyers for the first time... thats a huge change. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time to form an identity and get everyone on the same page.

I was basing the hypothetical off of the various rumors suggesting they want out of WPG.

I think Kane would be a lot more than that. People forget he is only 20 years old, a 30 goal scorer and he is fearless in the way he goes to the net. I'm guessing, but if you looked at the forwards rumored to be available and ranked them in terms of relative value to another team Evander Kane would top my list.

1. Evander Kane
2. Bobby Ryan
3. Rick Nash
4. James van Rymsdyk
5. Patrick Kane

Bryz was so impressed with the history of the city that I am surprised he didnt know the history of our fans. I watched Mike Schmidt get booed constantly and Bryz is worried about finding peace in this city?

I understand that. But check TSn. Apparently it's not true that Kane wants out.

Thanks for your support. My first one ever on here.

Although agreement with me is probably is a bad thing for you!

There are probably some Philly fans that think Mike Schmidt sucked, so it's no wonder JVR gets a rough time. But it is probably a short list of players that peaked at JVR's age.

providing pathetic excuses isn't being positive and I would think you would be able to tell the diff between that and the delusional tripe we saw here all too often. there were many times last yr that bryz looked like an ECHL level plyr.

I've said this countless time and I'll continue to say this. 24/7 was the worst thing to happen to Bryzgalov. His words about the Universe were something simply caught on camera and blow out of proportion. No, correction, blown way out of proportion. So what, the guy likes to read and things about what could be going out there beyond Earth. When did it become such a crime to be into discovery channel? I never saw this harsh a reaction to Carter and Richards possibly partying too much during the regular season and not focusing enough on Hockey. The very same could be said for Ray Emery's antics with the Senators. He was chopped down to bits but when he suddenly was signed to Philly, the same people who were ripping him a new bumhole jump to Emery's defense. Too much up and down. Left and Right. You want these players to be blamed and to fail if they aren't on the same side as you. I'm not just speaking of Flyers fans but the entire fan base around the league. The more drama, the better. We buy into everything a sports channel says like Analysts say but you know TSN is only catching half of the Flyers games during the regular season and that's when it's the featured game of the week or when they're facing the leafs. I think we as fans need to do a better job of defending our players when it's deserved and I think the league has to do a better job of defending their product period. Who is Mike Milbury to come down on anyone? I'm just not understand so much is being made out of the little things. Let the play on the ice speak for itself and let's not blame one guy and look at the entire picture. It's a team sport. If one guy can distract an entire team, that team never had much focus to begin with.

Weber - My own personal theory is that Stamkos, Giroux, goalies, Malkin - they are all great. But I like the Nasty factor. Pronger - 3 SC appearances with three different teams (in 6 year period). Chara. I like the intimidation factor.

Come playoff time, the elite defender will be on the ice for nearly half the game. I like JVR and Voracek has potential but that is an easy trade for me to make. Just don't think it will happen.

I was actually intrigued by the Myers (Sabres) rumor. Don't think that would happen either, but it would be fun to watch him and Coby on the backend together. Maybe we could trade for Boyle and field the tallest starting lineup in league history.

All across the board for Philly fans, the support for our players has dwindled it seems in most recent years. It's like no player is good enough for the majority of Philly fans.

And worse of all, in these playoffs I've seen fanbases support their players regardless of play--all the time. Pretty much null and void when the line "most intimidating fans in the NHL" actually applies to your own players.

The team defense looked like a pee-wee hockey team at times..Lavy and his bullpoop of playing bob all the time was an utter failure...once they committed to bryz he was playing much better in the second half of the year...not all of us have to agree with you
