doesnt make any sense that Homer would trade Carter and Richards for prospects then trade young players for Nash. I dont see any major trades happening

Then they write that JVR avoids question on Columbus, obviously does not want to play there.

with nash, once you trade for him, he is yours, no guarantee of parise wanting to sign/play here....minnesota is on the record for saying that no one will be able to match there offer
- mydoglicks

Still, the need of offense isn't really there to force that kind of decision.

Bobby Ryan could probably be had for less and would be a much better fit in my opinion.

Also, the whole idea of adding a big name forward to trade other assets away for defense really only works when you sign a free agent. Trade for a big name forward and there go your assets.

Adding the #flyers hashtag helps I'd think, as a lot of people keep a search going to pull up all posts with that tag in it

Clearly the Flyers are bidding up Nash. It is the Rangers who will make the biggest push.

We will not trade for him.

If you can't understand what is going on, too bad. The Flyers are looking at D. Not much out there. So I put more weight in that if they make a move, it will be for a younger, promising D-man. They have great trade assets but limited cap room.

Let's all use our heads.

most people here understand the diff between goals against that are a function of team d more than a goaltender's failings. at the end of the day though, one can only conclude that bryz had a rough year while offering us enuf glimpses of what's possible when he's got his head on straight to feel optimistic that the adjustment period is over.

however, in all of my 40+ yrs of following this team, I've never observed so many excuse-makers for a plyr who just didn't get it done. let's judge him objectively this yr...

Neither do I. Frankly all this Nash talk makes no sense to me at all. He is not what this team needs. Why gut team depth adding a part to what is already the strong point of the team while ignoring the part that needs help. Makes absolutely no sense.

Then I hear about the Flyers wanting to add a marquee name to the roster. Well, they HAVE a marquee name and that is Giroux. And I guarantee Giroux is more well known than Rick Nash.

The big splash should be Weber, and if that is not possible, tweak the current roster by adding some sandpaper to the defense and a bigger defensive forward to ride shotgun with Cooter.

Interestingly enough... there isnt a single quote from JvR on record, stating that he would be ok with going to CB.... there is a quote saying he wants to stay with the Flyers however.

Had he been our goalie for 3 years already you would write it off as just a subpar year, but because he was brought in to end our goaltending woes with a massive contract, his bad play gets magnified, which I can understand. Some of the complaints though have been way off base. Saying he performed below expectations is accurate though, IMO.

Maybe it was JvR's hairdressers boyfriend.. JvR was getting shampooed and spilled the beans... then pillow talk allowed the boyfriend to find out. The boyfriend just so happened to be Portzline's grandmothers paperboy's older brother.

Crazy huh?

anyone else hear the rumor that the Flyers are not really in the bidding for Nash, and are only trying to get the Rangers and/or Leafs to bid higher and higher for him.

Bill, great work as usual. Any truth to the new rumored deal for Nash...JVR, Read, Bob, and 1st? I'm not a fan of Nash coming to the Flyers mainly because of what it will cost in terms of players and cap hit. However I'm starting to think they are serious about trading for him and if so this proposal seems to be the best for the Flyers.
- shifty28

Please don't do this deal. They need players like Read on this team in order to succeed. Where else where you get that kind of performance for 900K a year for the next 2 years. I may give him up in a package for Weber, but not Nash.

Thanks for your support. My first one ever on here.

Although agreement with me is probably is a bad thing for you!

There are probably some Philly fans that think Mike Schmidt sucked, so it's no wonder JVR gets a rough time. But it is probably a short list of players that peaked at JVR's age.

True dat for sure, but don't you believe (as I) that it is a function of so many young players?
