It doesn't sound like they were shopping him. The calls were going in the other direction.

My guess is he's waiting to find out what the new CBA and cap formula are. Next July he could almost write his own check, especially if he has a great season. Plus he's getting married tomorrow. Probably doesn't want to be worried about contracts. It's smart for him to wait. He may end up getting less than Pitt is offering right now, but he's still going to get a big contract.

Interesting fact that you knew staal was getting married tomorrow.. I personally would just want to get it done and over with and not have to worry about where I might get traded the night before my wedding or the day of my wedding..

I for some reason do not count us out on Parise or Nash though... Darcy seems to pull things out of his ass.. and we are not mentioned in any Nash rumors..

If the rumors are true that Howson is in trouble because nobody is offering him what he wants which is 2 top 6 players and 2 1st rounders..

Maybe Vanek/Roy, a 1st and an early 2nd rounder get it done.

Whoever mentioned that we might end up with Riberio... I do remember hearing that name mentioned at the deadline that Dallas had received a few offers on him..

at this point.. I think the Ryan deal is close to dead.

I still really like Colorado as a trading partner possibility. I think Minnesota could give us a ring about a player or two if they really are as hot as they say they are on the phones..

I think Parise's name will get traded... I really do..

Philly is gonna trade for a D-man from a team which then will force that team to look for a possible replacement in their top 4 which could enable the plethora of depth on D of the Sabres to look better and better.

I used to agree, but we seem to be in a beggars can't be choosers spot. Darcy admitted that he is making more calls than he's taking. Translation: he's desperate to make a deal. Besides the fact that several players are coming off questionable seasons, that statement puts him in a weak position.

If we can get Kane, he becomes the most talented offensive threat on the team. We get better. I don't expect Darcy to make us into a cup favorite in the next few weeks. No one should. But we need to get better. Move forward, not back.
