Calling it a night soon. Tomorrow, things could get really interesting. - John Jaeckel[/quote
From what you are hearing, do you think the next 2 days will match the hype of a. Lot of big names moving? I know the hawks will just do a smaller move like trade Hjallrms, but do you see a lot of big names moving? |

Just heard from my top guy, he thinks Bowman is under pressure to get busy (from above). Watch for salary moves (Hammer), also possibly Kane moved. Too much to hunt and peck right now. Plots thickening re: Suter, Ryan, possible Hawk move on Parise |

You are a marketing genius...like Costanza going out on a high note, leaving us wanting more. |

Shame on me, I once really proposed Keith , Sharp and Crawford for Kesler and Luongo , justifying that the Hawks would dominate at the C position and Luongo is Mental but better than C daddy. - mrpaulish
i'll get torched for this....but if stan bo can unload a couple of baddies to the nucks, i'm in on bobby lu.
don't know why it goes the way it does in vancouver, but all the crap the fans say about (mental head case, ect....is just fan crap!) his contract sucks, thats a gimme, but 29 other GM's including ours would love to have that guy when he;s on his game! and with some tweaks to our roster here , plus we just won a cup, the heat won't be on him to "carry the franchise!" like it currently is! so for once , if EK is right, "captain canada" who has way more in the tank ( and will be a leader in the room!)left than brunette had, & a fresh start for roberto luongo may be a big part of what we could use going forward!
on suter, parise, nash??? we'll see, but i bet EK may be on target here.
on semin, i wouldn't touch that "load" with a 10 foot pole!

No to Luongo. He really is a head case, and his contract sucks.

I can't see it happening but if it does I'm Going to be seriously ticked because Stan jumps the gun and tries to make a splash with the wrong deal. Luongo = worst deal ever.
Hope in 2 days time were talking highly of SB's deals (and no deals).

kolbee, you got alot a good to add mostly. but what ya gonna do if bowman scores bobby lu and unloads some bad crap the other way, stop watchin the hawks?
i really like the ryan smyth idea on the same line with captain serious for a couple of years! will add nothing but positive vibes and a couple more 20 + goal seasons, plus allows kids like saad to develope at a more reasonable pace!
imagine that! captain canada & captain serious on the same line! |

ty..... easy, lu's won't be "the big splash" just a part of re tooling, same with smyth! they'll be players on suter &parise!
as much as we torch bowman, ya gotta think he got the ultimatum behind closed doors from rocky, "fix it or else"!
the hawks.... have ZERO!! in their system when it comes to goaltending, luongo would be an absolute upgrade for the next 4 or so seasons vs. what we currently have or the other crap out there unless you have a slam dunk & you want to trade half your team for a guy like bernier!
luongo, on top of his game instead of crawford vs. mike smith??? hawks win the series and maybe go on to the conference finals?? |

Luongo isn't coming to Chicago. Not going to happen. I really have my doubts that he even gets traded. Toronto is about the only place that could take him on, and I have my doubts that he even ends up there. Realistically, either Schneider is going to get moved (either by trade or offer sheet) or Gillis will hold onto both of them.
To answer your question, if Luongo does end up with the Hawks (and I think there are better odds of being struck by lightning then that happening), I won't stop watching the Hawks, I'll just female dog about it until he's gone.
As for Smyth, I doubt he leaves Edmonton. Cloutier's blog says it's about the term of the deal that's hanging up Edmonton and Smyth getting a deal done, and I'm positive they'll work that out.
I'm not against Smyth coming to Chicago on a one year contract for a reasonable salary. Anything longer than a one year deal for Smyth doesn't make much sense to me.

Taking on a 5 per year mil over 10 years is some sort of splash in my books. Also the fan and media backlash for trading for the biggest rivals goalie would put Bowman even more on the hot seat IMO. I agree he's an upgrade over Crawford but not with that contract.
The fix it or else ultimatum def seems to be there, my point is don't fold under the pressure and make a bad deal ie. Luongo. |

kolb & everyone else is probably right on lu....but it was just a "what if & anything is possible", thats all!
& i'll stand by what i said earlier, "lu in the hawk cage instead of crawford in the playoffs,....... we beat the yotes & maybe go a couple of more rounds!
but congrats to the kings!! |

I don't know if the Luongo deal is the worst. The Leafs giving Jeff Finger a 4 year deal at 3.5 mil per season is much worse. The length of Luongo's contact is bad, but at least he can provide some value. Finger played just over 1 season before being demoted to the AHL. The best part was Leafs fans actually believing this guy would be a leader on their blue line. |

The length of Luongo's deal really puts it over the top.
Finger's deal is a bad one. Redden was even worse. |

I think the Hawks should try and trade Kane for Stall +. Not sure what would need to be added, but I'm sure something could be worked out and a 1-2 punch of Toews & Stall would be scary come playoff time. |

I hate Bobby Lu as much as the next Hawks fan. I also hated Dennis Rodmen until he was a bull. If he could bring multiple Cups to the Hawks like Rodman did for the bulls I would have to think about it. His contract sucks but there is a buyout clause. Little confused on that looking a cap geek. If you could dump Crawford and some other lousy Blackhawks contracts it might just be worth it. I know he is a head case but in Chicago there is a heck of a lot more sports to focus on then in Cunuck land. Might not be as much pressure and no matter what you what to say or think he is a good goaltender. Not saying this is the best move, just one that you might think about. |

Reading the devils blog boys so i got one for ya.
regarding a player hitting FA come july 1st, is it a forgone conclusion that they are gone from their current team and what is the history of the odds they re sign with their old team? can't be very good otherwise they would have worked it out prior to july 1st, right?
hopefully SB has his cannon loaded regardless of what he said recently! |

You mean Staal, right?
With one year left on his deal with no guarantee of being re-signed, giving up Kane for Staal is a huge over-payment.
Shero isn't trading him anyways. Word is they're working on a new deal for him.
Where's Fat Tony Amonte when you need him? Somebody has to tell these guys to go "take a lap" for posts like these. |

i agree paul! the "headcase crap" term was created by the fans rivalry & a few writers! not 29 other GM's! probably won't happen , but if it does, i'm in on bobby lu! |

I don't have any hard facts for you, but I would imagine that in most cases, if a UFA hits the market on July first, they're changing teams.
I could be wrong, I'm just speculating.
