I think he wants the west coast to be close to his daughter.

They are going to do their best to bring in Ryan Suter (who I keep hearing may be a two horse race between Detroit and Minnesota) and Zach Parise. -EK

looks like 7/1 he'll be a hawk for sure !

- mrpaulish

If you have $7-7.4 mill per year and 5-7 year contract, then you can get Suter.

We'll offer 6.8-7.1 and up to 7, since Tennessee has no state or local income tax and nominal other taxes, it's comparable. The question remains....who does he want to play for. We don't have the forwards necessary for a deep run and none are in the pipeline.

So, we'll see, but if Chi can come up with the cash, I think the Hawks have the best chance to land him actually.

Why are you so obsessed over Garrison? Given, the season he had last year is attractive, but at what he's going to sign for, it's a pretty big risk to find out that he's either the real thing or the second coming of Keith Ballard.
- EKolb13

I fully admit my obsession with Garrison may be a little over the top, but I just think JayBo isn't worth that contract, even for 2 years. JayBo's never played a playoff game in the NHL, even Garrison has more experience then that!

If Garrison is the 2nd coming of Ballard then he'll be signing in Vancouver for sure!!

Shot below the belt !! Yes the tax system in Illinois is a joke , but Chicago endorsements can make up the difference 10 fold.

He's also never played on a good team. In Chicago, with Seabs and Keith logging big minutes, I think JayBo could really flourish.

I know Bouwmeester isn't coming to Chicago, and maybe you're right, he may not be worth it. Also, I didn't know that he's never played a playoff game in the NHL.

As for Garrison, if he ends up in Vancouver and he turns out like Ballard, that would be some hilarious poop! They can pair the two of them together!

Very true, but Garrison would still get more love in Vancouver because he's from White Rock (which is about an hour away from Vancouver).

I think you made the point that if I were Suter and Weber would weigh heavily...

If both players are signed then Preds are a vg team but would have no cap space left to acquire offense. Unless some young surprises are coming with modest contracts, it could be tough to make a deep run.

That is the biggest reason why I think both Weber and Suter will be gone...

If Nashville didn't have ownership issues the smart thing was to lock both up before now....Now they are in a bad spot.

Where do the Hawks sign up?
Those are my kind of trades.

I'm gonna add one:

Sharp, Pirri, late pick

To Boston for:

Krejci, Boychuck, early pick.

Then it's Toews-Nash-Krejci

2nd pairing: Suter-Boychuck
3rd pairing: Oduya-Fistric/Leddy

Minnesota state income tax would be 7.95% for someone in Suter's income range.

Hello non Hawks fans, as we've well established for the past 2 months trading Kane scenerios are based off of The Wirtz family having decided to move Kane no matter what. If thats the case, Nash is the best available player. Hammer and Stalberg create cap space.
- mrpaulish

The Hawks are moving Kane? Why woudl they do that? And why would they trade him for Nash?

He'll get more love than Ballard. Vancouver has a thing for home grown talent, much like any other city.

I was more confident in Suter coming here prior to Lids announcing his retirement. Now I think Detroit is going to make a strong run at him.
- mvp0207

Count on it. Nothing is decided. Point of my blog is the Hawks might be stronger players in this than many believe.
