When all is said and done I see the Wild as the next LA Kings...meaning , "The next team to come out of nowhere to be a major force."
I don't think he Ek was trying to say the Wild will win the cup next season. Simply put, he thinks they will make the playoffs and higher up in the West. I think it's not unreasonable to think if they sign either Parise or Suter (they won't sign both) while having 5 or 6 guys turning pro to play in the AHL or NHL (depth which they so dearly lacked last season when the injuries piled up) they are much better than last year, one that can make the playoffs. No, they are not a SC contender even with Parise. Injury + no depth was SO frustrating to watch.
