I agree with all saying Quick should have won, sadly it was very evident that King Henry would take the hardware(based on his nom for the Hart). The Karlsson pick for the Norris made me shake my head a little bit too. This is a very average, if not below average defender that just put up points(hello Mike Green). But then, if Lindstrom can win it with a +/- in the red, then what does this trophy really stand for?? - taleisyreXIII
Henrik is a worthy winner, just not who I would have gone with. |

I haven't detected that Karlsson is overly deficient defensively and he had such a superior year from an offensive output that it seems justified that he would win this award (until there is a distinction between offensive d-men and the alternative, you are going to see different styles winning the award). Guys like Karlsson are incredibly valuable -- look at the #'s that some are talking about Letang getting paid when his contract is up. He isn't exactly what I would call strong in his own end. |

Good question, havent really given it much thought. High chance that no change is made. If I made the name correct from the start it would have been Gunnar Stahl.

I think Letang is very good in his own end. My nitpicking with him is offensive related, gets a little too cute sometimes. |

Letang >>>>> Karlsson when it comes to defensive ability. Its hard to argue the numbers Karlsson put up last year, but he really has a ways to go in his end.
Also this is a pretty good (warning: very advanced stats centric) write up on Karlsson's season

Karlsson had a great year and deserved the Norris. But to even put him and Letang in the same sentence regarding defensive zone play is silly.
Interesting stat breakdown, thanks. |
