How did the Isles handle his injuries wrong? He was sent to Vail Colorado like everyone else, after that they brought in James Andrews who's one of the best in the county and he needed a second surgery. Since then it's been other things like a hip pull or hernia surgery or an elbow pad to his eye, not the knee.
Poulin's had some of the same knee problems, Koskinen, was hurt both years in North America before they let play regularly in Europe. Nilsson got hurt too last year in Bridgeport.
DiPietro dressed for over fifty games in 2010-11 and played in 26 games, if not for the elbow pad he likely makes close to forty games, on a team well below five hundred he's been close to break even in his minimal starts.
He's going to get chances because there is more than a fair chance he could still completely recover.
If the doctors tell the Isles he can no longer play because of his knee they advise the patient, team and that's when you recoup the losses.
Insurance pays his contract and the cap hit is gone. - NYI
Im not talking about the doctors he was sent to, i could care less about that.. but Last year he was sitting on the bench as a back up & was not ready to play. He has on multiple occasions been dressed to play when he shouldnt be.

I think we are good with any of them... I like Reinhart, but we could trade down a couple spots and still get him. |

That sounds nice and reads well but unless you are in that lockeroom or a team doctor/trainer you cannot make a claim that someone should not be dressed as a starter or backup.
This team came out of the all-star break with Nabokov playing great and Montoya healthy, who came up to start in Carolina (and won) simply because he was red hot? Poulin.

I would not have a problem with any of these three as long as the Isles do not pass on Murray. |

Nah.... that's too low in the rankings... even for the Isles.
Both have potential to be good players though.
But with the # 4... you get a shot @ Murray, Gally, or Forsberg.
You need to take the best player left.
I know it's a crap shoot, and the guy @ # 10 might be the best player in the raft... but you have to go with the majority of the scouts on this one. |

Absolutely nothing. The amazing thing is he didn't mention anything about front loaded contracts or no trade clauses in there. |

If you have finally figured out the contracts all the top players get are front-loaded, or that 20 plus teams have never made such an offer, and that all the top players have no trade clauses I don't have to mention it any more do I? |

Same guy.. I still support DP & wish him nothing but the best, but not at the expense of the team. If he is the best goalie in camp (which i don't believe he will be) then so be it. But if he hinders the development of any of our prospects because he HAS to be the back-up.. that is a bad deal. THIS season i dont feel it will be an issue, its better for Poulin to start in BP rather then ride the pine behind Nabby. So i expect to see Nabby with DP as the back up.
BUT if Nabby God forbid goes down with an injury, i want to see Poulin up here with DP as his back up!

I agree Poulin is not suited to backup for DiPietro, Nabokov or Montoya (who for the moment is still part of this franchise) but Nilsson and Koskinen are not suited to be backups in Bridgeport or here.

Nabokov had one heck of a rough ride getting off the rust from a long lost year and a fair part of last season. He's no lock to stay healthy or be effective, but obviously he's the best bet on paper at this time.

I swear he is an alcoholic. I mean he jumps all over the place. X seriously if DP can get back to form and play competively then he is ok in my book. I just dont see it and if he fails again then something needs to be done |

Looks more and more to me like Grigorenko is going to drop for a slew of ridiculous reasons. He's undoubtedly the 2nd best player in this draft, behind Yakupov. If he makes it to us, it's an absolute no-brainer to take him. Based on everything I've read (which is a lot) Galchenyuk is at a level above Murray, also.
I don't think we can go wrong, but we should really be taking best player available. |

Galchenyuk, but his knee is fine. He proved it in the end of the season/playoffs and at the combine. Didn't lose a step and didn't lose any strength. |

To all my friends on here i just want to say you guys are awesome. I love playing around and talking Islanders even though i am out there some times but all in all it is all in good fun. From jimmy who has been teasing me about the Penguins for like forever. it is all good my friend and i enjoy our banter. To niteislander who disagrees with me about everything you are a great guy. To XXNYIXX who has been fighting with me back and forth about DP it is awesome and you know what buttons to push and to every one else who has had knowledge and legit beefs you guys are awesome. One guy I cant put in here is NYI. He has been around since 2006 but for some reason had decided to grace us with his intellect. I hope he knows there is no room for that here at all. Maybe he will chill out but until then to the rest Cheers!! Even you LetsGoIsles. |
