He said if it were him picking he would take Forsberg or Rielly. Hopefully nobody puts any stock in that, because although he covers the game...that doesn't mean he knows a single thing about scouting guys. He admitted as much when he said that. - eichiefs9
Yep, that was it. And let's hope he doesn't have ESP of any sort. That would blow goats. |

Staple must have been drinking alot of Islanders Kool-Aid today:
Staple: You're dismissing the core of the team, which I think is a legit playoff contender. They need a lot to happen -- Niederreiter has to turn it around or build himself up in Bridgeport, Grabner/Bailey/Okposo have to have good starts rather than good finishes and the D Snow signs have to be solid, not underperformers like Jurcina and Eaton. But without many major changes and with some health, this team is as good as any in the East outside of perhaps 2-3 clubs. I really believe that. |

"as good as any in the East outside of perhaps 2-3 clubs" I think he meant, outside of 12-13 clubs

Dude youa re the most arrogant guy on here. Sorry I have a life and I am not reading articles on the Islanders 24/7 days a week. Try to go on a date or something. GEt out of the basement or your bedroom and go out. You are not impressing anyone with your vast knowledge of the Islanders. NO ON CARES but I guess this is all you have so have fun - kasperrko
I don't really care either but you are a joke.
Do we all need to get a life or dates because you create your own history of events and someone actually remembered what a happened because it was documented?
Instead of insults why not act like an grown up? You claimed the advertisers pulled out, why don't you simply say I never knew Msg pulled the games off television or demanded the Isles renegotiate the television contract and that you were wrong, or is your agenda more important? |

From what I read on newsday chat with a guy named Staple, he pretty much says the Islanders aren't high on Murray and would rather trade down then draft him. He also said the Islanders aren't going after big name players during the UFA because they don't have the money and the cap floor is probable going to be lower this year. They won't know the cap floor until Sept, he said. He also said Strome and Nino will not start with the team next year, unless Strome has a good camp. So pretty much they will draft someone we haven't talked about and they will sign a few scrubs to fill in for PA and the other openings. Sound like this team is headed for a top 5 pick in 2013 again. Wang should just sell the team to someone that will care. - hawks101010
If Wang and Snow do not want to spend a lot on FA's fine but there is no excuse to not trade for some good Vet players. It may be another tough summer for the Wang and Snow lovers to defend these two and another horrible summer for all Islander fans. |

You got pretty creative with the history of events yourself in the last thread...just sayin'. |

Shouldnt a writer/Blogger have some knowledge about the subject he's writing about?
Is that asking to much?

Bleacher Report is the biggest joke. They have some real clowns writing there. Pretty sure you get a:
"Do you want to cover your favorite team"
( )Yes ( )No
option when you sign up. |

As opposed to every other hockey site which is pretty much throwing darts at the board as far as I'm concerned. What makes them worse then hockey prospectus, hockeyfutures, or even thefourthperiod? Point is they are all a joke. You guys are right more often then most of these sites |

I became an Islander fan when Pat Lafontaine left. I am sorry never liked the guy at all. I was also a huge Mario fan. Loved the guy when he played hate him now. I have been a fan for a while of this team and have been through all the ups and downs. I was one of 4,000 fans there when they did not even have a jumbo tron and were being threatened to be removed from TV cause every sponsor was backing out. I was there for the blizzard game and watched David Scatchard score a hat trick and made the trip all worthwhile. I have also spent thousands on this team more then I ever did for the Penguins. I dont need to prove my allegiance to you or anyone but I think I have done a lot more for this team then you have from Canada - kasperrko
I respect your honesty but the wolfpac is going to have a meeting and get back to you on this |

No no.. we ALL think the team is better off without him.. but we all don't blame him for all that is wrong with the team, or the world for that matter.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
Nah, you are right. We can blame management for letting him be part of the reason this team is a laughing stock. |

The fact that they have completely random people "reporting" on teams. Hockey Prospectus and Hockeys Future both employ real-live respected scouts. The Fourth Period employs credentialed members of the media. Bleacher Report is the equivalent of one of us in here writing a blog on a napkin. |

Staple knows, as Botta learned, not to give honest opinions or be too critical of Wang/Snow, lest he "loses" his press pass/job and has to go work as Katie Strangs assistant.
Garth's BS double-speak and inability to improve this team, measurably, has to be accountable. It's been 5 years. The team is not much closer to the playoffs than they were. Just for starters, we have an inferior coach....probably ranked 32nd in the NHL.
I really wonder how many games with ZERO attendance would it take for Charles to fire Garth. We as fans are sick of his slick little smile, his chowder-head accent and all his excuses and saying one thing & doing another, his crappy cronies, signed to add "veteran" leadership, which when you add it all up, clearly PROVES he is failing at the job. Most any of us here could have drafted 90% of the same people Garth did, standing on our heads.
If no major, immediate improvement to the team comes from Friday's draft, other than another " Top Prospect" to throw into the pool, then we all need to come to the conclusion that the "Rebuild" is never going to be completed. Garth doesn't have the answers OR can't figure out the ways to improve this team other than by losing each year and getting high picks. A monkey could do the same....sit back and wait and then hold his hands up and say, "What, we didn't make the playoffs? I did all I could.....nobody wants to play for us except the guys who HAVE to play for us.....not my fault - it's a rebuild....old arena......it takes time....due dilligence.....blah, blah,f;in blah"
I'm flucking sick of it. I don't care if he & Charles are the nicest bosses ever and cure cancer and figure out cold-fusion and breed sharks with laser beams on their heads....FIGURE OUT A WAY TO IMPROVE THIS TEAM NOWWWWW! OR YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER WORTHLESS POS!

BD is a credentialed member of the media that writes for CBS Sports, so not like him. In fact, the exact opposite of him. |
