The AHL still plays during a lockout or at least they did in the last lockout. Bruno could be a star again!

Many people are saying (TSN) the Islanders will end up with Reinhardt
- brodydog29

Following Mock Drafts and "The Experts" opinion over the past several Drafts has taught me one thing.

Dont put stock in any of em. If they get it right. Its pure chance.

Here is a site that has 61 Mock Drafts. http://dcprosportsreport.com/mocks/NHLMocks.htm

44% have us taking Murray. Only 5 have us taking Reinhardt.

Very few had us taking NINO last yr and the yr we took JT. It was nearly split between he and Hedmen with a few going for Duchene.

What makes it even harder to predict is that we are the Islanders. Be prepared for anything and everything.

The AHL would play but Katic had a good shot at making the big club so instead of going back to the AHL for less money, he chose security, I guess. Either way it's not like we lost a top D prospect or anything.

Good! I don't have to watch DiBag run around during the rookie games anymore. Hated that guy ... likely meant he was effective

The TSN draft, done by Craig Button who always has to be different, also has Grigorenko going #17 to the Sharks. Reinhart will likely be a fine player, but he's not going at #4. I'd be shocked to see Grigorenko fall further than 5.

agreed...id tend to believe most of these articles have different scenarios simply because whats the joy in reading the same predictions as everyone else? they do it for shock value and to keep the reader coming back for more.

What scary about this is the Eklund rule. The more the % is that the player is coming, the less likely he is. There are many good options at #4. Some are more mature, NHL ready, but those top 9 or 10 picks seem that they can all help an organization one day. What scares me is if the Isles go out off the board and pick another reach like Bailey.

Anyone in this draft eat breakfast at one time with one of our players or go to the same summer camp? That usually gives guys an edge up in this organization.

Some of these guys are giving up too quickly. DiBo I understand leaving...he got a look and seemed destined to finish out his days in BPort if he didn't move on. But Katic almost cracked the roster this past season before he got hurt, and there are plenty of roster spots to fill on D this year. He at least had an outside chance, and at the very worst, probably would have been on the short list for a call up in the event of an injury.

I heard a rumor that RDP and Yakupov had a nice little conversation while dropping deuces in the mens room at Chipotle. Just a rumor though.

Comment From Dan
If they do keep the pick, history says they draft a forward. Does history repeat itself on Friday?

Staple: Dan -- I think it does. This isn't a tremendous crop of forwards, and there are valid questions about every one of them from Nail Yakupov on down, but the organization's stance is: draft the best forward available and develop defensemen further down the draft. I can't see that changing unless all three of their top F targets are gone.

Staple is doing one of those live chats right now, figured this question/answer seemed relevant to post in here.

Based on what Garth said at the questions and answers session, one would have to think he's going to bring in defensive help via trade. He clearly said that 4 years ago the main objective in the re build was to re stock the prospect pool. Theyve since done so, and he did say that they now have the assets to make a move. All signs point one way....

I hope you are right and that GArth sticks to his word. If he does not do anything this year then I think he will need to go
