Our 2nd line has no style so that's perfect.
- AlexF

He would be too slow for the second line. Booth and Kesler would be up ice by the time he hit the blueline.

Sedins need a banger not a playmaker so I am not sure he fits.

It might work. If Gillis can;t make anything work with the goaltending situation and is having trouble on July 1 he might throw a offer Jagrs way.

Toronto always has an inside track on every UFA. It is every hocky players childhood dream to wear the blue maple leaf.

I don't think his style suits Vancouver.
- VANTEL

How so? Sure he's not known for his two-way game or speed ur his game is all about pick possession and the cycle game. He'd be great with the Twins and the second line could actually keep possession of the puck in the offensive zone on a consistent basis. He was also apparently a very good teammate which MG loves.

Giroux is a pretty good skater and he seemed to have some nice chemistry with him. He'd be ridiculous with the Twins, because it's impossible to get pick off of him along the boards. That line would wear down opposing defenses big time.

I guess we can agree to disagree.

I believe he's part of the group in Seattle that is trying to get an NBA and/or NHL franchise in Seattle. I sure hope so.

would be great. the train ride down on weekend games would be a blast.

He just doesn't get me excited he is a 1-2 year soulution (IMO ) .I am looking for a solution 4-5 years younger bigger. I get tired sometimes of trying just to plug holes instead of building a propre dyke.

Fair enough, to get a player like him that is much younger is going to cost you quite a bit though. I'd rather plug him in for a year and then play the trade/free agent market for a long term solution next year when there won't be as much uncertaintity about the CBA and perhaps if we see another disappointing season we'll see major changes and will have more flexibility with Jagr coming off of the books instead of a Paranteau type that we might get stuck with.

Just my opinion.

Everyone wants solid long term solutions but those are clearly really hard to find without creating a hole somewhere else in your team. The idea was only for 1 season and we'd give up nothing to get him. I don't see what's not to like. Obviously if a younger, longer term solution presents itself Gillis should go for that but in the meantime...

We'll see how it all shakes down. That is a more realistic offer than I have seen from most posters.

Totally, none of us really know crap when it comes down to it.

Rarely are guys traded for the amount we'd expect.

Another boring Gillis interview. The only thing I really learned is that Gragnani has been qualified.

I actually think this is a great year to do it. There are stars like Parise (I don't expect ) Nash ,Staal , Ryan, Jagr, plus a crop of FA's and UFA's . This will keep most GMs busy competing .There is a big list of teams disappointed with their players this year and think they need a shake up. A player like Thorton Clowe Sharpe Franzen or many many more might listen to trade proposals.

this may seem odd but i think a lot got lost in the typing (that both you and i did).

it wasn't as big a disagreement as it seemed. in any event, i'm pretty sure we've exhausted the topic.

to be honest, the vast majority (i'm thinking 90+ %) of hockey interviews, whether they be with a gm/coach or player are a waste of time.

we, hockey fans, always want an "honest answer," and then when we get it, we (through the media) are up in arms with what has been said. it's no wonder that players/coaches/gm's are taught and told to say nothing but vanilla quotes.

Pass it to Bulis‏@passittobulis

If Jensen winds up with Modo, that joke I made yesterday about the #Canucks using Modo as an AHL affiliate takes on a strange prescience...

Maybe Luongo goes on loan to Modo

I think I'd go down to Burke's office personally and choke him out with is own already loosened tie if that trade ever happened!

You could be right. Gillis undoubtedly has spoken with every GM already and will have 2nd, 3rd, whatever conversations as well.

The 1st crop of players you mention are asking too much in return, that much is clear. And we won't win a bidding war for the UFAs. I realize you're already saying that.

The caliber of players in your 2nd crop would still require something significant in return. Apart from Luongo, I'm not too sure what we have to give (or what MG would be willing to give). People always talk about hockey trades but that always assumes that a team is overloaded in one position so that a player(s) become expendable. That does happen but under the salary cap it seems to happen less and less. Unless your talking draft picks/prospects, in a fair trade usually the guy you gain creates another hole somewhere else. Apart from that you'd hope for a swindle or some team desperate to get to the cap floor to get a favorable trade.

I think you do have possibilities . I won't say Edler or Kes and piss everyone off again ,even though anything is possible .We do have (tier two +) players like Burrows Booth Lapierre Higgins and Hansen we could package or deal

What you or I would consider is clearly not the same as what Gillis would consider. I highly doubt he would even contemplate trading Kesler (which would create a hole at C) or Edler (we need more top 4 D, not less) almost on general principle alone.

The other guys could be assets to be shipped, but if we package too many together we once again create holes. Unfortunately our farm is so damn weak on forwards that (apart from Shroeder) no one looks like they could make the jump to fill any gaps. That leads to more low-level UFA signings for too much money (Malhotra).

All this said I'm still holding out for Gillis to actually make some smart deals this summer. The only deal I feel we are in the driver seat for is Garrison. That would be a good start.

I doubt either one gets moved now. After listening to him this summer ,I don't think he even thought about it once.

I actually tried to correct that .I meant one or two not all of them .

According to Scooby he said he thinks he is going to sign in FLA (as per a freind)
