All the crap on these boards is the main reason I don't even want to make a deal with Toronto. I would much rather the Leafs flounder with "Optimus Riem" and "The Monster" and get ready for another lottery pick.

Who? Leaf fan doesn't even mention his name anymore. Amazing considering all the hype.

Normally I would agree with that, but I do remember AV going on record last year about how much he liked Jensen.
- fiveandagame

That's true. Still, old habits die hard. A 19 year old on the Canucks? I'll believe it when I see it.

He was Vezina candidate after 5 games. It was very much talked about on this site.

I think Gillis spanked his noodle this offseason. I think they have both discussed changes in team and style and that includes coaching.

I hope so.

A year of AV could really damage Kassian

Solid in Goals
If they get Suter it will give them solid D
Parise with Seto Koivu Clutterfemale dog and they have a fine lot of prospects Granlund, Coyle, Hackette as a few. Plus twenty mil in cap space . Suter and Parise will eat up most of that.

Burke was on record in several interviews stating the Monster was the reason they were even in the playoff hunt (at the time). A few months later he's not even on the team anymore. I'm not expecting honesty from GMs in public interviews but...

I could see Higgins bumped to the 2nd and Jensen on the 3rd.

Solid in Goal: Agreed
Defense: Their D is average and Suter can't prop up the entire D core (watch his "abilities" suddenly regress when not alongside Weber).
Parise on that line: More likely Parise-Koivu-Heatley (not stellar). It's my understanding they are looking to trade Seto based on his indifferent form. Clutterbuck is a 3rd liner.
Prospects: Agree they have some, but they are years away from making a meaningful impact.

This is also based on the assumption Minny sign both players (unlikely).

Verdict: Playoff bound? Not for a few years. Cup contender? Not with this team (even with their prospects fully mature).

I hope not .Higgins is a 3 rd line LHF not a 2 nd line RHF seeing Booth is our second line LHF. Lets get the proper players in line. We need a top 6 forward not a plug n play substitute,

Unlike EK suggesting they win the cup ,I think they would move into 7 th place with maybe one or two rounds this year.

With Kesler out for a good chunk of the start of the season, the lines will be a bit of a mess anyways. As far as the roster goes, we should proabably wait until October and see who is acctually on the team and how guys did in camp before penciling guys in line ups.

Still think we get a top 6 forward for the RH side. Put Schroeder in for the month and a half and give the kid a try. It is a chance to see what you have in the kid and then you can decide where he fits in , in the future.

That is why I think we wait. Gillis still has a lot of time between the draft and the start of the season to complete the roster.

Jim Jamieson‏@JamiesonCanucks

Just spoke with Anton Thun, agent for #Canucks prospect Nicklas Jensen, who'll play in NHL or in Sweden next season.

Jim Jamieson‏@JamiesonCanucks

Thun says Jensen will be excused from Swedish Elite League team (TBA) to attend #Canucks training camp and has out clause if he makes team.

Jim Jamieson‏@JamiesonCanucks

Thun says Jensen needs a higher competitive environment than junior hockey next season.

As long as he gets PT in Sweden I'm ok with him going the route. If he goes over there and is playing 5 minutes a night, than he is better off in the OHL.

It wouldn't suprise me in the least bit if this is just a move to get dealt to another OHL team that does a better job developing players.

I'm a fan of Jensen, but I hardly think that he has out grown the OHL. he finished 55th in scoring, so I get a bit of a chuckle, when he says there is nothing more to learn at that level.

I'm thinking MODO is where he ends up if he goes to the SEL. Nazzy will make sure he gets developed right.

Gillis is a patient guy. He'll take his good time and snap up the opportunity when it presents itself. Something might happen at the draft, but he probably won't finish all dealings until August.

Also his interview on 1040 has been delayed until 11:45 for those interested.

Well said, Ian. He hasn't outgrown the OHL so this is kind of surprising and most young players don't get a lot of ice team in the major Euro leagues. I sure hope that he's playing in a top 6 role wherever he decides to sign. Hopefully he isn't being completely influenced by his agent, because this could be a Hodgson 2.0 all over again if MG is against this move.
