I think this is the second time this week I have read a oiler blog to find a Leaf discussion in the comments, anyway your "random thought" (I know your just throwing it out there) of selecting Galchenyuk and trading for a winger makes no sense to me, my thoughts are you really need defenders not more forwards, just my opinion

I removed it when I realized. They still wouldn't take him.

So they acquire 2 nhl ready dmen and now have a hole at 2nd line center....
And no yaks to take hemmers spot, so ales is no longer a tradeable asset.

??no.
Signing schultz is not part of any tradeable package.
It would just be gravy adding him in this scenario.

I said

1st and gags
For
5th, gardiner and a medium prospect, ( kadri would be acceptable, but i dont think the leafs view him as such)

This might also increase our already reasonable shot at signing schultz.

If we walked away with gardiner, grigorenko and schultz.. Id be stoked.

- hugefemale dog77

I actually did not mean Gardiner and Shultz you must not have been to TSN yet Gardiner and Shultz tied the knot late last night and Jake is going to hyphenate his name. As for the Medium prospect well that was just me taking a shot at Kadri.

There is little chance of Hemsky getting moved until he proves that he can actually have a productive year and not get injured all the time. You think Grigorenko straight out of the Q is a better option than Sam Gagner at 2nd line centre this year? Doubtful.

You think Gagner is a 3rd line center? I guess you're not a fan of stats or reality. What's Narnia like this time of year?
- laughs2907

Sure I am, a lot of guys with 49 pts are considered great players or worth 1st over all picks.

I have to think he's pretty high on their list for them to fly him all the way out to Edmonton for a meeting. They have their own list, and I doubt Mackenzie's impresssions mean much to them.

LOL Gardiner has had one good season and projects to be a Top 4 defenseman...Top 2 if he really develops well.

Yakupov in OHL scored goals at a Stamkos-like pace.

Thanks for coming out.

i dont care about projections.. as a leafs fan im sick of parting ways with young players, especially when they are skilled puck moving defenders with great skating, vision and passing. i would rather keep him and you guys can have mr yakupov, so thanks for thanking me im glad i came out.

Nobody ever said Sam Gagner was worth the first overal pick, EVER. And whoever said he was worth the 8th overall was also a bit loopy. He would be worth a mid first round pick.

Gagner has a couple of decent seasons and is a straight up for a 1st rd pick.

No one had a (frank)ing clue what he's worth until he's traded.

IF he's traded.

At least most Oiler fans have obtained this magical thing called logic. Something that is still illusive to most Leaf fans.

I agree that ales doesnt get moved at this point... Especially until we see what we have in yakupov. Just was making the point that under my scenario hes no longer an option to move to help fill the vacant spot left my gagner.

And no, i dont neccasarily think grigs is a better option straight outta the q.
He may be able to put up comparable numbers though...
But either way, Long term he very well could be. And thats what im thinking of every time i draft someone.
