Burke will make a move not sure what but he'll move somehow
- Kuleminator

Until he figures out the goaltending situation, and what exactly getting Luongo will take(he may already have that figured out) he isn't thinking too much about movement in the draft.

He's definitely out of the Nash sweeps.

Also, I wonder if acquiring Lu for a modest package(Kadri, Komi & 35th) makes certain assets disposable, like Reimer.

Perhaps Schenn, Grabs and Reimer would be enough to pry away the 2nd overall. This would have to hinge on what Howsen thinks he's get for Nash from a 3rd party

If the Leafs trade Gardiner to Edmonton then essentially they are getting two Dmen with Schultz signing in Edmonton. The Leafs would then get the 1st overall pick and nab Yak then trade down using their #5 pick to grab Gally. So the question is would Edmonton trade the #1 pick for Gardiner and Schultz ?
- Crispo98

ok, this has to stop. you guys need to understand that you're not getting credited for Schultz going to Edmonton in this case. i mean, how is it even possible that anyone with an IQ over 43 can think any differently?

Two places behind the great Leafs if I recall correctly.. Weren't you guys winning the cup in November? What ever happened to that?
- Saundies

I'm sorry, who said the Leafs were winning the Cup? I sure didn't.

Before you start running your mouth about a team that finished better than you last season you should really look at where you're coming from.

I don't see the Oilers taking anything less than Gardiner + the 5th overall for their 1st overall and I don't see the Leafs offering that. Plus some other team could easily top the offer if they wanted to badly enough.

Hold on the the 5th and draft a good player. Try to find some solutions through other trades and FA signings......

I'm saying he's indifferent about paying it regardless if it means making the team better.

I would to ask that the Montreal Canadiens continue this practice as it is a sound strategy!

my point is-- the 4th + a 3rd + dehaan for PK + an absolute liability is waaaay further off than 4th for PK + liability....whether its a deal or not is moot...
- LetsGoIsles

Like I said.. the 4th is a prospect.. sometimes they don't work out.. scott Scissons? ... DeHaan has had 4 surgeries since we drafted him and has not played a full season yet... The 3rd.. who cares.

Gomez is what makes this deal done and would be much better option on bottom 2 lines than what we have now.. and a change of scenery may be what he needs.. who knows.. doesn't matter.. PK is the reason for the deal.

He is a Young, Extremely talented NHL d-man that would be on our back line for a long long time. There is no "maybe" , or "Possibly" about him.. 20 mins a game.. top pairing YOUNG d-man. it is a good deal for Isles who have zero shot and I mean ZERO shot of getting a UFA d-man to sign.

Go ahead man. I know it's really hard for an Isles fan to understand but some team's actually have extra money to spend.

No matter what happens with Gomez, he's going to have to pay him anyway. Buy out, burying him in Hamilton, Europe etc. I guarentee Molson would rather pay Gomez 7.5 mil to not play then to get rid of his contract, along with PK Subban for a 4th overall pick.

Logical, no?

Leafs fans think it's a high cost. Oilers fans and Leafs haters think it's underpayment. This is why I don't see it happening.

unproven yes for now but look at the player he's gonna be a star sooner ratter than later so i don'T care if we overpay to get the Center we need

Because they rarely are there by trade or as UFA=

You got to draft them when you got the chance

Man you finished 13th.. if you really think that's better, it isn't. You were still a long way from the playoffs AGAIN (7 year rebuild and counting, anyone?) and we got a better draft pick. Considering you guys were top 3 going into the all star break, I wouldn't really come back with being proud of finishing 2 places up on the Habs, which had their worst start to a season EVER.

Maybe you didn't, but everyone else in "leaf nation" had them making the playoffs FOR SURE. I think being in the playoffs for most of the last 7 years while you guys sat back and watched has entitled me to run my mouth all I want.

Leafs. Will. Never. Get. Tavares.
Especially after he wins a cup in the isles new arena.

We overpaid for Kessel. Where has that gotten us other than putting the team several years behind? Sure Kessel is pure sniperage but I don't want us to get butt raped like that again.

Meh I really don't like the idea of simply 'moving up'.

I'd rather keep the 5th, and somehow use other pieces, like Grabs, Reimer and Schenn to pry away no. 2 so we have two blue chippers along with a starter 8in Lu for next season.

I just don't see 'moving up' getting us anywhere as it'd cost too much, and I'm not convinced there's much improvement from 2nd to 5th, it's a real toss up
